Sweet And Sour Ginger Sauce

Ингредиенты

  • 1 to 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes
  • 1/2 c. crushed pineapple in natural juice
  • 1/2 c. minced onions
  • 1/2 c. cider vinegar
  • 1 T soy sauce
  • 2-3 slices fresh ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 lg. green pepper, minced
  • 1 T cornstarch
  • 2 T water

  1. Cook first 8 ingredients together for 20 min; stir as needed. Add in green pepper and cook 15 min longer.Drain most liquid into another pan. Place small amounts of remaining items (from pot) into blender and blend till a smooth, slightly lumpy mix remains. Blend all of the fruit-vegetable mix. Pour the blended mix into the pan of liquid. Stir well.
  2. Mix cornstarch and water. Reheat sauce mix till low boiling/bubbling. Add in cornstarch mix and stir. Cook a couple min longer till sauce has thickened. Chill. Serve cold or possibly warm.
  3. This sauce is wonderful for dipping egg rolls, chicken and other meats. It can also be served over meats and vegetables for a sweet and sour main dish.
