%20%20Also,%20the%20number%20one%20search%20term%20bringing%20visitors%20to%20my%20site%20this%20month%20is%20%E2%80%9Cgorillas.%E2%80%9D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGorillas??%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20took%20me%20awhile%20to%20figure%20out%20why%20this%20was%20happening,%20but%20the%20reason%20soon%20became%20apparent:%20%20several%20of%20the%20images%20on%20my%20blog%20seem%20to%20have%20become%20quite%20popular.%20%20Which%20is%20all%20well%20and%20good,%20really%20%E2%80%93%20if%20you%20want%20to%20use%20my%20images,%20you%E2%80%99re%20more%20than%20welcome%20to.%20%20%20However,%20most%20of%20the%20people%20using%20them%20are%20hotlinking%20to%20them.%20%20Hotlinking%20is%20the%20use%20of%20a%20linked%20object,%20often%20an%20image,%20from%20one%20site%20into%20a%20web%20page%20belonging%20to%20a%20second%20site%20%E2%80%93%20in%20other%20words,%20you%E2%80%99re%20not%20grabbing%20an%20image%20and%20hosting%20it%20on%20your%20web%20server,%20you%E2%80%99re%20simply%20linking%20back%20to%20MY%20site;%20the%20image%20shows%20up%20on%20your%20web%20page,%20but%20my%20website%20is%20bearing%20all%20the%20burden.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%E2%80%99s%20like%E2%80%A6internet%20welfare,%20y%E2%80%99all.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%E2%80%99s%20also%20known%20as%20leeching,%20piggy-backing,%20offsite%20image%20grabs%20and%20%E2%80%93%20quite%20appropriately%20%E2%80%93%20bandwidth%20theft.%20%20This%20is%20a%20bad%20thing,%20folks.%20%20If%20you%20want%20an%20image%20from%20my%20site,%20just%20ask%20%E2%80%93%20I%E2%80%99ll%20be%20flattered%20as%20all%20get-out%20and%20not%20only%20send%20you%20the%20image%20to%20use%20but%20probably%20tell%20you%20exactly%20how,%20when,%20where%20and%20why%20I%20took%20the%20damn%20thing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAt%20any%20rate,%20I%20almost%20put%20some%20code%20on%20my%20site%20that%20would%20replace%20all%20hotlinked%20images%20with%20one%20that%20said,%20%E2%80%9CI%20Steal%20Images%20From%20Jan%E2%80%99s%20Sushi%20Bar%E2%80%9D%20but%20there%20is%20at%20least%20one%20image%20housed%20on%20my%20server%20that%20requires%20the%20ability%20to%20hotlink%20to%20it%20(I%E2%80%99m%20aware%20of%20it%20and%20it%E2%80%99s%20not%20the%20source%20of%20the%20bandwidth%20drain).%20%20So,%20I%20removed%20some%20of%20the%20images%20from%20my%20server%20(you%20will%20find%20the%20disclaimer%20on%20this%20post),%20and%20labeled%20the%20other%20offenders%20that%20I%E2%80%99m%20aware%20of%20with%20%E2%80%9CThis%20Photo%20is%20the%20Property%20of%20Jan%E2%80%99s%20Sushi%20Bar.%E2%80%9D%20%20All%20images%20from%20this%20point%20forward%20will%20be%20watermarked,%20and%20I%E2%80%99ll%20gradually%20go%20back%20and%20watermark%20past%20images.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyhoo.%20%20Swedish%20meatballs.%20%20Not%20only%20one%20of%20Beloved%E2%80%99s%20favorite%20dishes,%20but%20one%20of%20The%20Young%20One%E2%80%99s%20as%20well,%20judging%20by%20the%20way%20he%20licked%20his%20plate%20Saturday%20night.%20%20This%20is%20a%20new%20recipe%20(for%20me),%20adapted%20from%20one%20by%20Alton%20Brown%20(who,%20while%20he%20irritates%20the%20bejeebus%20out%20of%20me%20%E2%80%93%20can%E2%80%99t%20they%20just%20take%20him%20off%20of%20Iron%20Chef,%20for%20crying%20out%20loud?%20%20he%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20contribute%20a%20damn%20thing%20to%20the%20show%20%E2%80%93%20has%20the%20occasional%20great%20recipe,%20and%20this%20is%20one%20of%20them).%20%20It%20is%20easy,%20and%20it%20is%20goooooood.%20%20Served%20with%20homemade%20egg%20noodles,%20as%20I%20did%20this%20last%20weekend,%20it%20is%20the%20epitome%20of%20comfort%20food.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESwedish%20Meatballs%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eserves%206,%20or%20Beloved%20and%20The%20Young%20One%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20slices%20fresh%20bread%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20200%C2%B0%20F.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETear%20the%20bread%20into%20pieces%20and%20place%20in%20a%20small%20bowl%20along%20with%20the%20milk.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium-sized%20skillet%20or%20saute%20pan%20over%20medium-low%20heat,%20melt%201%20tablespoon%20of%20the%20clarified%20butter.%20Add%20the%20onion%20and%20a%20pinch%20of%20salt;%20cook%20until%20the%20onions%20are%20soft%20and%20translucent,%20stirring%20frequently.%20Remove%20from%20the%20heat%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20bowl%20of%20a%20stand%20mixer,%20combine%20the%20bread%20and%20milk%20mixture,%20ground%20beef,%20egg%20yolks,%201%20teaspoon%20of%20kosher%20salt,%20pepper,%20allspice,%20nutmeg,%20and%20onions.%20Beat%20on%20low%20speed%20for%201%20to%202%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20your%20hands,%20shape%20the%20mixture%20into%20meatballs,%20about%20one%20ounce%20each.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20the%20remaining%20butter%20in%20the%20skillet%20over%20medium-low%20heat.%20Add%20the%20meatballs%20and%20saute%20until%20golden%20brown%20on%20all%20sides%20and%20cooked%20through,%20about%207%20to%2010%20minutes.%20Remove%20the%20meatballs%20to%20an%20ovenproof%20dish%20using%20a%20slotted%20spoon%20and%20place%20in%20the%20warmed%20oven.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20all%20of%20the%20meatballs%20are%20cooked,%20decrease%20the%20heat%20to%20low%20and%20add%20the%20flour%20to%20the%20pan%20or%20skillet.%20Whisk%20until%20lightly%20browned,%20approximately%201%20to%202%20minutes.%20Gradually%20add%20the%20beef%20broth%20and%20stir%20until%20the%20sauce%20begins%20to%20thicken.%20Add%20the%20cream%20and%20continue%20to%20cook,%20stirring%20constantly,%20until%20the%20sauce%20reaches%20the%20desired%20consistency.%20Remove%20the%20meatballs%20from%20the%20oven,%20cover%20with%20the%20sauce%20and%20serve%20over%20noodles,%20mashed%20potatoes%20or%20steamed%20rice.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
