- Beat together the margarine and the sugar in a large bowl.
- Add the egg.
- Beat until light and fluffy.
- Add the corn syrup, water, and the zest.
- Set aside.
- Sift together the flour, baking soda, and the spices.
- Gradually add to the margarine mixture
- Roll the dough into walnut-size balls.
- Place onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Press a fork dipped in sugar onto the cookies to flatten.
- Bake at 375 F for 8 to 10 minutes.
