Super Sunday Bloody Mary’s-Tomato Bowl
Here’s an interesting twist on making a Bloody Mary–how about making your own tomato juice as well!! Now that the Tomato Bowl is just about coming to an end, I am going to make myself one of these, kick back, and wait to see who wins, and then get ready to shout it out for the GREEN BAY PACKERS!!!
Super Sunday Bloody Mary’s
- INGREDIENTS: (for tomato juice)
- 2 (28 ounce) cans Red Pack crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup onion-chopped
- 1 cup green pepper-chopped
- 1/2 cup carrots-chopped
- 1/2 cup celery-chopped
- salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS: (for juice)
In a large stockpot, combine all ingredients and simmer for 45 to 60 minutes. Press through a seive or colander, extracting all of the juice. Return the juice to the stockpot, heat to boiling. Remove from heat and chill in the refrigerator until time to use.
Make your own Super Sunday Bloody Mary’s:
3 stalks celery, including leaves
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
1 teaspoon chopped shallot
Dash Worcetershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon celery salt
12 dashes hot sauce (recommended: Tabasco)
2 limes, juiced
Vlasic pickles
Large green olives
1 recipe of homemade tomato juice (or 48 ounce can of Tomato Juice)
DIRECTIONS:
Cut the celery in large dice, including the leaves, and puree in the bowl of a food processor fitted with the steel blade. Add the horseradish, shallot, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt, kosher salt, Tabasco and lime juice and process until smooth. Pour the mixture into a large pitcher, add the tomato juice, and stir.
Run the edge of a lime around the glass rim, run the glass rim through a plate with a heaping amount of celery salt. Add ice, vodka in the amount of your choosing,Vlasic pickle spear and the tomato juice mixture. Add an olive and a quarter of a lime.
