Рецепт Strawberry-Angel-Kabobs...And George...President Washington To You...
by Nan Slaughter

Before we get to one of the best cheater desserts known to man...allow me to introduce you to George...

The Father of Our Country - President George Washington...isn't he wonderful?!?! This is an early Father's Day Gift for the mister...because the mister loves George, almost as much as I do. Years ago we were doing a little antique hunting and we came across a framed picture of George...we talked about getting it but decided to think about it as we continued looking around the shop...ten minutes later we had made up our minds - we wanted George! By the time we walked back to the corner where he was displayed, he was GONE! Someone had bought him right then and there - we were dumbfounded/dumbstruck/just plain dumb for not buying him immediately! We have since learned that George, along with a few of our other early presidents, used to hang in every school house in the country ...but now George has been replaced with more modern presidents...making the George of yesteryear highly collectible! Last week, while doing a little poking around in an antique shop in Utah, I found this George!!! He's at least a hundred years old and came from an old elementary school in Vernal, Utah!

George was shipped and arrived today...I immediately put him in the dining room, as it's the most formal (stuffy) room in our house...he seems to fit in nicely. Every morning as I come down the stairs and round the corner I will happily salute him - or maybe just blow him a kiss.

Fresh strawberries skewered between store bought Angel Food cake, drizzled with melted white chocolate...By George! God Bless America!! Served along side a bowl of freshly whipped cream and you have the perfect party food...delicious, colorful, kid-friendly and dessert snob approved!

If strawberries are large, cut them in half or even thirds. Cut sponge cake into cubes. Slide a berry half onto skewer, then a cake cube and repeat until skewer is filled. Place skewers on a rack over a cookie sheet.

In a small bowl, melt chocolate in microwave according to package direction (usually about 1 minute on high, stirring at 30 second intervals). Put the melted chocolate into a plastic zip lock style bag. Snip the corner of the bag and drizzle the chocolate over the skewers. Makes 36. Allow chocolate to set, about 20 minutes, then cover with plastic wrap until serving time. Serve with whipped cream, if desired.
