Рецепт Stir-fried Shrimp with Asparagus and Green Garlic, a question for you
by Katie Zeller

Along with all the wonderful asparagus mon mari is buying I got a little carried away with the first green garlic of the season.

It seemed only right to do a light stir-fry featuring them both.

Stir-fried Shrimp with Asparagus and Green Garlic

Total time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Basmati Rice:

Heat butter and oil in a small saucepan over medium heat.

Add rice and sauté, stirring for 1 minute.

Add stock, cover and cook rice for length of time on package. When done fluff with fork.

Shrimp:

Heat half of each oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.

Add leeks, asparagus, green garlic to skillet and stir-fry for 2 – 3 minutes. Remove to a plate.

Add remaining oils, ginger, shrimp, stir-fry 1 minute, until shrimp start to curl and turn opaque.

Return vegetables to skillet.

Add chicken stock and sherry, bring to a boil.

Add cornstarch mixture, stir until cleared and thickened.

Add more soy sauce if desired, according to taste.

To Serve:

Arrange Basmati on a large platter.

Spoon Shrimp and Vegetables on top and serve.

A friend’s daughter’s cat died which has me pondering social media.

Curious?

My friend’s daughter’s cat was terminally ill and she took him to the vet to be ‘put to sleep’. She was naturally upset by the ordeal.

Which reminded me of how difficult it was to do the same with our two dogs three years ago.

Which reminded me of how sad / bittersweet / somewhat humorous / less traumatic it was when my St. Bernard died in the back of our boat one lovely summer evening.

Which reminded me how much we enjoyed our evening boat cruises when we lived in Minnesota. A few times a week we took the dog, made a gin & tonic and slowly cruised around the lake, admiring the sunset, chatting about the day and enjoying the silence.

We had cell phones and a radio on the boat but, at that time, those things were still used for business and / or emergencies.

I even had a laptop… One of the original laptops, although it didn’t have a battery and there was no internet, let alone Wifi.

The point is we left it all behind and just totally relaxed.

I haven’t done that in years….. Between Facebook and Twitter and Pinterest and Google+ and all the rest it seems like when I’m not writing a blog post or updating my sites I’m promoting them on social media or keeping up with ‘internet’ friends on social media.

I feel like I have lost the ability to relax.

How about you?

But….

That’s not my question.

My questions is this:

Since I have so much free time on my hands I thought I would do a Kindle ebook edition of my weekly menu plans. I do two weekly plans:

One plan includes 7 dinners, 2 with first courses.

One plan is for 6 dinners, no first courses. Both plans include side dishes.

I would only do one plan in the ebook… but which one?

What do you all think – the 7 dinners with 2 starters or 6 dinners with no starters?

I await your opinions…..
