Steak & Cheese Sandwiches
Mmmm, this was so good, move over Philly, there’s a new sandwich in town…
Steak & Cheese Sandwiches
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound top round steak, trimmed and thinly sliced*
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, divided
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 red pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 6 sliced provolone cheese, torn into small pieces
Hoagie rolls
DIRECTIONS:
In a large non-stick skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add steak and 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce; cook for 5 minutes or until steak is browned. Remove steak from pan; set aside and keep warm.
Add onion, pepper and remaining 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce to skillet. Cook for 8 minutes or until onion slices are translucent.
Return cooked steak to skillet with onion mixture. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Reduce heat to low; add provolone to steak mixture. Cook for 4 minutes over low heat, stirring constantly, until cheese melts.
Toast hoagie rolls under the broiler and top with the mixture.
*It’s easier to cut the meat if it has been frozen slightly
