- In Dutch oven in hot oil over medium heat, cook garlic, onion and green pepper, stirring occasionally, about 5 min. Stir in ham, chorizo and broth. Cover, bring to a boil. Add in chick peas with their liquid, potato and kale. Cover. Stirring once, simmer 30 min or possibly till all is tender. Season with salt and pepper sauce. Salt may be omitted if using smoked ham, and amount of broth may be increased. Serves 4.
