  • 2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil or possibly butter
  • 1 cl garlic, chopped
  • 1 med onion, finely minced
  • 1 can italian-style, (28 ounce)
  •     tomatoes, mashed
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp leaf basil
  • 1 tsp leaf oregano
  • 1 can tomato paste, (6 ounce)
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
  •     meatballs, (below)(optional)
  • 2 pkt spaghetti, (16 ounce ea)
  •     grated parmesan cheese
  •     meatballs--
  • 1 lb lean grnd beef
  • 1/2 lb lean grnd pork
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/4 c. grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/8 tsp freshly grnd pepper
  • 1/2 tsp leaf basil
  • 1/2 tsp leaf oregano
  • 1/2 tsp leaf thyme
  • 3/4 c. dry bread crumbs
  • 1/3 c. pine nuts, (optional)
  • 2 Tbsp. dry parsley flakes
  • 2 x Large eggs
  • 1/4 c. evaporated lowfat milk

  1. Combine all ingredients except Meatballs, spaghetti and cheese in Crock-Pot; stir well. Cover and cook on Low for 5 - 10 hrs. If Meatballs are added, continue to cook on Low for 7 to 12 hrs.
  2. Just before serving, cook spaghetti according to package directions. Serve topped with Meatballs in sauce and pass grated parmesan cheese.
  3. For Meatballs: Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Shape into 24 meatballs about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Place on baking sheet and bake in 450 degree oven for 15 to 20 min or possibly brown meatballs in skillet; drain.
