1/2 c. shortening 2 c. sugar 3 Large eggs 1/2 c. cocoa, melted in 1/2 c. boiling water 2 1/2 c. flour, sifted

1 c. sour lowfat milk or possibly buttermilk 1 teaspoon baking soda, mixed with warm water 1 teaspoon cream of tartar Healthy pinch of salt

1. Mix all together. Bake in loaf pan at 325 degrees for 1/2 hour, then at 350 degrees till done. Bake in layer pan at 300 to 325 degrees. It takes about 35 to 45 min to bake this cake.
