.%20I%20got%20a%20lot%20of%20compliments%20for%20the%20fact%20that%20the%20tiramisu%20was%20not%20soggy%E2%80%93the%20ladyfingers%20I%20found%20were%20pathetically%20soft%20(a%20true%20Italian%20ladyfinger%20should%20be%20quite%20crisp),%20so%20I%20only%20brushed%20the%20espresso%20syrup%20onto%20them,%20instead%20of%20dipping%20the%20entire%20ladyfinger.%20In%20*my*%20ideal%20world,%20I%20would%20increase%20(maybe%201.5X)%20the%20mascarpone%20part%20of%20the%20recipe,%20because%20I%20like%20a%20cream%20heavy%20tiramisu.%20But%20this%20is%20personal%20preference-the%20recipe%20as%20it%20is%20written%20below%20does%20not%20include%20extra%20of%20the%20mascarpone-cream%20layer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20note%20about%20the%20photos:%20the%20tiramisu%20seems%20to%20have%203%20layers%20because%20it%20was%20unclear%20whether%20the%20dumb%20ladyfingers%20I%20bought%20needed%20to%20have%202%20cookies%20to%20form%201%20ladyfinger%20(just%20trust%20me).%20I%20decided%20after%20it%20should%20have%20been%201,%20not%202.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESmall%20Town%20Tiramisu%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdapted%20from%20Giada%20de%20Laurentiis%20and%20Gourmet%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBring%20the%20Kahlua,%20water%20and%20espresso%20powder%20to%20a%20boil.%20Add%202%20tablespoons%20of%20sugar%20and%20simmer%20until%20the%20sugar%20is%20dissolved.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrepare%20the%20whipped%20cream%E2%80%93do%20not%20overwhip,%20you%20want%20it%20softly%20whipped.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBeat%20the%20egg%20yolks,%20sherry%20and%20sugar%20in%20a%20double%20boiler%20or%20heat%20safe%20bowl%20over%20barely%20simmering%20water.%20Beat%20until%20pale%20and%20tripled%20in%20volume,%20about%206%20minutes.%20Remove%20from%20the%20heat,%20and%20slowly%20beat%20in%20the%20mascarpone,%20a%20dollop%20at%20a%20time.%20Once%20the%20mascarpone%20is%20incorporated,%20fold%20the%20whipped%20cream%20in%20until%20they%20are%20combined%20completely.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20are%20using%20crisp%20ladyfingers,%20dip%20each%20one%20completely%20in%20the%20Kahlua%20mixture,%20shake%20it%20off%20gently,%20and%20place%20it%20in%20the%20bottom%20of%20a%209%20X%2013%20baking%20dish.%20If%20your%20ladyfingers%20are%20soft,%20as%20mine%20were,%20lay%20the%20ladyfingers%20out%20in%20the%20pan%20until%20the%20entire%20layer%20is%20covered.%20Brush%20the%20Kahlua%20mixture%20over%20the%20ladyfingers.%20Spread%20half%20of%20the%20mascarpone%20mixture%20over%20the%20ladyfingers.%20Repeat,%20ending%20with%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20mascarpone%20mixture.%20Cover%20with%20plastic%20wrap%20and%20chill%20for%20at%20least%204%20hours%20and%20up%20to%208%20hours.%20Sprinkle%20the%20top%20with%20cocoa%20powder%20before%20serving.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
