  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 pound sirloin tip, trimmed and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 pound fresh mushrooms, rinsed and sliced
  • 1 med. onion, minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 can beef consomme, undiluted (10 1/2 ounce.)
  • 1/2 c. dry red wine
  • 1 tbsp. parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • Dash paprika
  • Dash garlic pwdr
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Warm buttered noodles

  1. In brown paper bag, combine flour, salt and pepper; shake beef in bag till well coated. Set aside. In large kettle heat butter, add in coated beef cubes and brown thoroughly on all sides; stirring frequently, about 15 min. Add in mushrooms, onion and lemon juice; cook, stirring frequently, about 5 min. Add in consomme, red wine, parsley, basil, mustard, ginger, paprika and garlic pwdr, and stir till well mixed. Add in salt and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer over medium low heat about 1 1/2 hrs, or possibly till meat is tender. Serve over warm buttered noodles.
