%20Alex%20and%20I%20picked%20berries,%20I%20made%20my%20mom's%20old%20fashioned%20shortcake...that%20was%20a%20GREAT%20day!%20Well,%20now%20it's%20the%20middle%20of%20winter,%20Christmas%20is%20over,%20my%20birthday%20isn't%20until%20the%20end%20of%20February,%20and%20I'm%20feeling%20the%20%22oh%20yum%22%20of%20the%20season.%20I%20don't%20know%20about%20you,%20but%20I%20always%20get%20depressed%20after%20Christmas%20and%20New%20Year's%20and%20really%20don't%20come%20out%20of%20it%20until%20spring.%20(Well,%20except%20for%20my%20birthday%20week---yes,%20in%20our%20family%20you%20get%20a%20whole%20week!)%20So%20I%20find%20myself%20looking%20back%20on%20all%20the%20great%20food%20we%20ate%20last%20spring%20and%20summer%20and%20longing%20to%20have%20it%20again.%20Leave%20it%20to%20my%20mom%20to%20find%20something%20to%20lift%20my%20foodie%20spirits%20and%20allow%20me%20to%20enjoy%20some%20of%20those%20warm%20weather%20flavors%20while%20there%20is%20snow%20on%20the%20ground.%20(Okay,%20that's%20a%20lie%20b/c%20we've%20been%20having%20an%20unusually%20warm%20winter%20in%20Indiana%20this%20year,%20but%20bare%20w/%20me)%20%20She%20found%20this%20recipe%20in%20The%20New%20Sentinel,%20our%20local%20newspaper,%20and%20I%20couldn't%20wait%20to%20try%20it.%20I%20decided%20it%20was%20perfect%20for%20our%20New%20Year's%20Eve%20celebration%20b/c%20after%20all%20the%20junk%20food,%20something%20sweet%20was%20just%20what%20we%20needed%20:)%20If%20you%20are%20feeling%20a%20little%20down%20b/c%20the%20calendar%20is%20still%20on%20the%20first%20page%20and%20winter%20isn't%20going%20away%20any%20time%20soon,%20maybe%20this%20can%20make%20you%20smile%20too!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20350.%20Line%20a%208x8%20baking%20pan%20w/%20foil,%20w/%20extra%20over%20the%20edges,%20and%20spray%20w/%20cooking%20spray%20w/%20flour.%20In%20a%20medium%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20sugar%20and%20butter.%20Add%20eggs,%20one%20at%20a%20time.%20Add%20salt,%20vanilla%20and%20stir%20to%20combine.%20Stir%20in%20flour%20and%20baking%20soda%20until%20well%20mixed.%20Spread%20into%20pan.%20Spoon%20jam%20over%20dough.%20Drag%20a%20knife%20through%20dough%20and%20jam,%20swirling%20jam%20into%20dough.%20Bake%2025%20minutes%20or%20until%20golden%20and%20toothpick%20comes%20out%20clean.%20Let%20cool%20in%20pan.%20To%20make%20icing,%20in%20a%20small%20bowl%20whisk%20together%20powdered%20sugar,%20vanilla%20and%20milk.%20Drizzle%20icing%20on%20cooled%20bars.%20Let%20icing%20set%20up.%20Remove%20from%20pan%20using%20foil%20and%20cut%20into%20bars.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDesserts%20at%20Very%20Good%20Recipes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPin%20It%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
