Рецепт Secret Recipe Club Reveal Day: Honey Pecan Granola
This month Colie’s Kitchen is lucky enough to be hanging out
and taking over Lauren’s Kitchen at Healthy-Delicious.
After spending HOURS looking over Laurens recipes I narrowed down my recipe
choices to 18! Yes 18! When I say hours… wow time passed.
Looking at Laurens recipes and the beautiful pictures that
go along with her recipes was like looking on Pinterest for me. I was
bookmarking EVERYTHING! I have to reiterate hours because I was supposed to be
making dinner but instead I was dreaming of all this yummy food I want to make
then eat.
I have been trying very hard to make myself eat breakfast
every morning. I hate breakfast! I can’t tell you just how much I hate
breakfast! I don’t like eggs and it seems everything has to have eggs in it. I am
also not a huge fan of healthy cereal, but I love granola! Have you seen the
prices of granola lately? Wow! The stores love their granola as much as I do.
After stumbling upon Laurens Honey
Pecan Granola recipe I knew what I was making for reveal day! I have been
having plain yogurt with fruit and granola for breakfast almost every morning. That’s
a breakfast I can live with. The problem is, as I told you before, granola is
expensive and well … I am cheap lol!
So with that being said why not make my own? It’s better for
you because you can control what goes in it, and it cost a lot less. Actually it
cost a fraction of what the grocery stores charge and it’s fresh! You don’t
have to worry if it’s going to be rancid (been there before) or how long it has
left for a shelf life.
What’s great about Lauren’s recipe is all of the ingredients
are things that I keep in my pantry. I didn’t have to go out and buy one thing.
I did make one change which was instead of raisins I used craisins because we
have a raisin hater in our house! Plus I always have craisins on hand.
I loved LOVE this recipe! It’s awesome!! Not only is it super-fast,
but its super easy. I made it while dinner was cooking and it was done well
before dinner. I doubled the recipe so that everyone in the house could have
some and so that there would be plenty for breakfast all week long. I also have
to tell you that the cooler it granola becomes the more intense the honey
flavor is. Oh my it’s so good!
I made this the day after reveal day last month and have
made it three other times since. Once was even next door at my neighbor’s
house. She loved it too!
So I will brag and tell you that I hit the recipe jackpot
and also tell you that I won’t be buying granola again. Think of the
possibilities if you make it yourself. Any type of nut, any dried fruit, I think
it would be awesome with coconut flakes, and even a little vanilla flavoring! Delicious,
healthy, chemical free, and low in price!
Thank you Lauren for allowing Colie’s Kitchen to hang out in
your kitchen this month.
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup dark honey
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1-1/2 cup oats
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup raisins or craisins
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Melt butter and honey in a medium saucepan. Remove from heat
and stir in the remaining ingredients until thoroughly moistened.
Spread the mixture
in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes, stirring
halfway, or until the oats are a light gold color.
Remove from oven and allow to cool for a minute or two then
pour into a large bowl. Begin folding your granola slowly with a large spoon. The oats will still be
a little bit sticky while it's warm, but the more you mix and the more it
cools down your granola will begin to form nice granola chunks!
Allow to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.
