Savoury Baked Macaroni ( Macaroni Con Pomodori)

Ингредиенты

  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 lrg onion finely minced
  • 2 clv garlic crushed
  • 1 sm chilli pepper seeded and finely minced
  • 4 x rashers smoked streaky bacon derinded and minced
  • 1 x 397g can peeled tomatoes
  • 1 tsp sugar
  •     salt
  •     short cut macaroni
  • 50 gm grated Provolone or possibly other hard cheese

Инструкции

  1. Heat the oil in a saucepan add in the onion garlic chilli pepper and bacon and fry gently for 10 min stirring occasionally.
  2. Add in the tomatoes with their juice the sugar and salt to taste.
  3. Bring to the boil stirring cover and simmer for 20 min.
  4. Cook the macaroni in boiling salted water till al dente; drain thoroughly.
  5. Arrange alternate layers of pasta sauce and cheese in an oiled ovenproof dish finishing with cheese.
  6. Serve immediately or possibly cover and leave in a preheated cold oven 140 degrees C/275 degrees F Gas Mark 1 for 20 to 30 min to allow the flavours to blend.
