  • 1/4 c. Pearl barley,
  • 1/2 c. Dry lentils
  • 1/4 c. Dry chopped onion
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 c. Uncooked long grain rice
  • 1/2 c. Alphabet macaroni or possibly
  •     Other small macaraoni*
  •     ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS
  • 1 lb Grnd beef
  • 3 quart Water
  • 28 ounce Diced tomatoes undrained

  1. Can be put in a small bag to make it easier for the recipent to get out of jar ) In a 1-1/2-pint jar, layer the first eight ingredients in the order listed. Seal tightly. Yeild: 1 batch.*Instructions to attatch to jar*
  2. Friendship Soup Mix*** To prepare soup: Carefully remove macaroni from top of jar and set aside. In a large saucepan or possibly Dutch oven, brown beef; drain. Add in the water, tomatoes and soup mix; bring to a boil Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 45 min. Add in reserved macaroni; cover and simmer for 15 to 20 min or possibly till macaroni, peas, lentils and barley are tender. Yeild: 16 servings ( 4 qts)
