Рецепт Salisbury Steak
by CookingLib

This recipe is comfort food at it's finest.

And I'm gonna tell you how I came across it :)

Back in January, the fam and I took a day trip

to Roswell, New Mexico.

It was recommended by a few spouses that I knew

so we jumped in our mini van and headed

for a visit.

Why is Roswell, NM so popular?

In 1947, a UFO incident "supposedly"

occurred 75 miles away in the near by town of Corona.

The investigation and debris were handled by Roswell Army

Air Field officials. This, in turn, put Roswell on the map.

I think it is safe to say that the whole town is UFO & alien crazy!

There were alien pictures everywhere and even the

street lights were in the shape of alien heads.

Their McDonald's???

Shaped like a UFO!

The kids had fun playing in it though :)

We toured the UFO museum….

which was interesting….

but a little bit fah-reaky!

We also ran into Mulder and Skully….

(hubby and I are huge fans of the X-Files)

Even though the town of Roswell is a little on the quirky side,

we enjoyed the trip.

This recipe came from the cookbook I purchased at the

museum's souvenir shop.

I ended up in a nice conversation with one of the

employee's and she highly recommended the

salisbury steak recipe in the book.

She said, and I quote, "You will never go back to

eating a salisbury tv dinner ever again after trying this recipe!"

She was right!

The very first time we made this, we kept

expecting aliens to pop out of the corners of the kitchen.

One awesome tidbit about this cookbook….

it was written by an Air Force wife who had traveled

the world before settling down in Roswell ;)

This recipe has been

in our favorite's file since January.

We hope it will make it to yours as well ;)

(makes 4-5 steak patties)

Ingredients:

Directions:

1. Take the ground beef and shape into 4 or 5 hamburger patties

2. Heat the 2 tbsp. of vegetable oil over medium heat in a large skillet.

3. Fry meat patties in the heat, making sure each side is dark brown and the patties are no longer pink in the middle.

4. Take patties out and let them cool on a plate.

5. In the same skillet, cook the sliced onions for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

6. Add soy sauce, sugar, and 2 cups of water. Heat to boiling.

7. Reduce heat to low and simmer.

8. Add the gravy mix, salt, pepper, and the mushrooms. Stir until it starts to thicken.

9. Add the brown patties.

**Libby's Notes: Serve with mashed potatoes and vegetable of your choice.**
