%20and%20purchased%20%2013%20different%20Rootbeers%20(they%20must%20have%20over%20a%20thousand%20different%20Rootbeers!)%20and%20with%20high%20expectations%20we%20sat%20around%20the%20table%20and%20sampled%20a%20little%20bit%20of%20each%20one%20-%20giving%20a%20thumbs%20up,%20or%20thumbs%20down%20with%20each%20sip.%20%20Only%20a%20few%20of%20the%20Rootbeers%20were,%20how%20shall%20I%20say%20this...less%20than%20desirable?%20%20Not%20good?%20%20Okay,%20down%20right%20disgusting,%20as%20in%20we%20spit%20them%20out%20as%20fast%20as%20we%20could!%20%20I%20cannot%20recommend%20the%20Peanut%20Butter%20Rootbeer!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEven%20though%20we%20only%20had%20about%20a%20tablespoon%20of%20each%20different%20Rootbeer,%20by%20the%20time%20we%20were%20done%20we%20were%20all%20a%20bit%20Rootbeer-ed%20out!!%20%20We%20took%20the%20half-full%20bottles%20to%20our%20neighbors%20so%20they%20could%20conduct%20their%20own%20taste%20test%20-%20you%20should%20have%20seen%20the%20look%20on%20their%20faces%20when%20we%20showed%20up%20to%20give%20them%20our%20%20opened%20bottles%20of%20Rootbeer...took%20a%20bit%20of%20explaining!%20%20I%20can%20tell%20you%20which%20one%20we%20liked%20-%20hands%20down%20-%20no%20contest%20-%20Dad's%20Rootbeer!!%20%20A&W%20was%20a%20close%20second!!%20%20The%20designer%20Rootbeers%20were%20good,%20but%20either%20they%20were%20too%20molasses-y%20or%20too%20ginger-y%20or%20too,%20too,%20too,%20um,%20gross,%20for%20our%20rather%20pure-Rootbeer%20palettes.%20%20It%20was%20very%20fun%20though,%20and%20the%20next%20time%20my%20sister%20and%20her%20girls%20come%20to%20visit%20we%20will%20conduct%20another%20taste%20test...and%20we'll%20have%20plenty%20of%20Dad's%20on%20hand%20to%20wash%20the%20rest%20down!%20%20(Notice%20my%20little%20Elsa%20in%20the%20background?%20%20Love%20that%20little%20face!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20come%20from%20a%20long%20line%20of%20Rootbeer%20lovin'%20people%20and%20not%20only%20do%20we%20like%20to%20drink%20that%20sweet%20brown%20elixir,%20but%20we%20like%20to%20eat%20it%20as%20well!%20%20Everything%20from%20Rootbeer%20Pie%20to%20Rootbeer%20Float%20Fudge%20%20to%20Rootbeer%20Baked%20Beans%20%20to%20Rootbeer%20Braised%20Short%20Ribs%20and%20everything%20in%20between%20-%20we%20love%20our%20Rootbeer.%20%20So%20Rootbeer%20Cookies%20were%20a%20no%20brainer...and%20these%20cookies%20are%20almost%20as%20good%20as%20sippin'%20on%20a%20nice%20cold%20one!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERootbeer%20Extract%20is%20a%20must%20-%20it's%20what%20gives%20these%20cookies%20and%20their%20frosting%20the%20crazy-good%20Rootbeer%20flavor.%20%20(Using%20regular%20old%20Rootbeer%20will%20not%20work,%20so%20don't%20even%20think%20about%20it%20-%20you%20need%20the%20extract!)%20%20After%20the%20cookies%20are%20baked%20you%20can%20either%20frost%20them,%20which%20I%20did,%20or%20you%20can%20use%20them%20to%20make%20Rootbeer%20ice%20cream%20sandwiches%20with%20vanilla%20ice%20cream%20-%20so%20dang%20good%20-%20like%20a%20Rootbeer%20float%20in%20every%20bite!%20%20We%20were%20fresh%20out%20of%20vanilla%20ice%20cream%20however,%20and%20I%20didn't%20think%20the%20stale%20orange%20sherbet%20we%20had%20in%20the%20freezer%20would%20taste%20good!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERootbeer%20Cookies%20-%20Pots%20and%20Pins%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20400%20degrees.%20%20Line%202%20cookie%20sheets%20with%20parchment%20paper.%20%20In%20a%20medium%20bowl%20combine%20flour,%20baking%20powder%20and%20salt.%20%20In%20the%20bowl%20of%20an%20electric%20mixer,%20cream%20butter%20and%20sugar%20together%20until%20butter%20is%20light%20in%20color,%20about%204%20minutes.%20%20Add%20egg,%20half-n-half%20and%20extract%20and%20to%20butter%20mixture,%20mix%20until%20blended.%20%20Add%20flour%20mixture%20to%20butter%20mixture%20and%20beat%20just%20until%20incorporated.%20%20Using%20a%20cookie%20scoop%20or%20a%20large%20spoon,%20scoop%20out%20about%20a%20golf-ball%20size%20portion%20of%20dough%20onto%20parchment-lined%20cookie%20sheet.%20%20Using%20your%20fingers,%20flatten%20dough%20ball%20to%20about%201/2-inch%20thick.%20%20Bake%20for%209%20to%2011%20minutes,%20being%20careful%20not%20to%20over-bake.%20%20Cookies%20should%20be%20lightly%20browned%20but%20still%20soft%20on%20top.%20%20Remove%20to%20cooling%20rack%20to%20cool.%20%20While%20cookies%20cool,%20make%20frosting.%20%20Frost%20when%20completely%20cool.%20%20Makes%20about%2024%20cookies.%20%20Keep%20cookies%20in%20an%20air-tight%20container.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERootbeer%20Fun%20Facts%20from%20Mobile%20Cuisine:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERootbeer%20is%20made%20out%20of%2016%20Roots,%20and%20herbs.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20most%20original%20ingredient%20was%20Sassafras.%20It%20comes%20in%20an%20alcoholic%20drink%20also.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERootbeer%20accounts%20for%203%20percent%20of%20America%E2%80%99s%20Soft%20Drink%20Market.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%201960%20a%20key%20ingredient%20(the%20sassafras%20root)%20came%20to%20be%20known%20as%20a%20carcinogen%20and%20its%20use%20was%20banned%20by%20the%20U.S.%20Food%20and%20Drug%20Administration.%3C/
