%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt's%20quite,%20quite%20delicious%20though%20.%20.%20.%20and%20he%20doesn't%20seem%20to%20complain%20overly%20much%20when%20I%20make%20it.%20To%20me%20it%20is%20a%20wonderful%20treat%20.%20.%20.%20something%20special%20indeed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20butternut%20squash%20gets%20all%20caramelized%20and%20sweet,%20along%20with%20the%20onions.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20sage%20adds%20a%20beautiful%20herby%20touch,%20without%20being%20over%20powering.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20that%20bechamel%20.%20.%20.%20so%20buttery%20and%20rich%20.%20.%20.%20all%20layered%20with%20gruyere%20and%20Parmesan%20cheeses.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20just%20can't%20get%20any%20better.%20Seriously.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Pan%20Roasted%20Butternut%20Squash%20Lasagne*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%206%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELasagne%20is%20always%20a%20bit%20involved%20and%20takes%20some%20time%20and%20effort%20to%20put%20together,%20but%20it%20is%20always%20worth%20it%20at%20the%20end.%20This%20version%20is%20truly%20delicious%20and%20worth%20every%20precious%20moment%20taken.%20It%20really%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20take%20that%20much%20time%20if%20you%20plan%20it%20properly.%20If%20you%20start%20off%20by%20making%20your%20b%C3%A9chamel%20sauce%20first,%20you%20can%20prepare%20the%20vegetables%20while%20that%20is%20cooking%20and%20thickening.%20The%20rest%20is%20a%20dawdle,%20especially%20if%20you%20use%20fresh%20lasagne%20sheets%20that%20have%20no%20need%20of%20cooking!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20B%C3%A9chamel:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELightly%20grease%20a%209%20by%2012%20inch%20baking%20dish%20and%20set%20it%20aside.%20Pre-heat%20the%20oven%20to%20180*C/375*F.%20Put%20the%20milk,%20garlic,%20slice%20of%20onion,%20bay%20leaf%20and%20parsley%20spring%20in%20a%20saucepan%20and%20slowly%20bring%20to%20a%20simmer.%20Cover,%20remove%20from%20the%20heat%20and%20set%20aside%20to%20infuse%20the%20milk%20with%20the%20aromatics.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPeel%20the%20butternut%20squash%20and%20chop%20it%20into%20%C2%BD%20inch%20cubes.Chop%20two%20of%20the%20garlic%20cloves%20together%20with%20the%20sage%20and%20the%20parsley,%20making%20a%20kind%20of%20an%20herby%20mixture%20redolent%20of%20garlic.%20Heat%20the%202%20TBS%20of%20the%20oil%20in%20a%20large%20skillet.%20Add%20the%20onion%20and%20the%20chopped%20squash%20and%20cook%20over%20high%20heat%20for%20about%2015%20minutes,%20stirring%20frequently.%20Reduce%20the%20heat%20to%20medium%20and%20continue%20to%20cook,%20stirring%20occasionally%20until%20the%20squash%20is%20fairly%20tender%20and%20starting%20to%20caramelise%20in%20a%20few%20places.%20This%20should%20take%20about%2010%20minutes.%20Add%20the%20garlic/herb%20mixture%20along%20with%20the%20nuts.%20Cook%20for%20a%20few%20minutes%20longer%20and%20then%20remove%20from%20the%20heat%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20the%20butter%20for%20the%20b%C3%A9chamel%20in%20a%20saucepan%20and%20stir%20in%20the%20flour.%20Cook%20for%20about%20one%20minute.%20Strain%20the%20milk%20and%20then%20slowly%20whisk%20it%20into%20the%20butter/flour%20mixture,%20whisking%20it%20until%20it%20is%20smooth%20and%20beginning%20to%20thicken.%20Reduce%20the%20heat%20to%20low%20and%20allow%20it%20to%20cook%20for%20about%2015%20minutes%20or%20until%20the%20flour%20is%20well%20cooked%20and%20the%20sauce%20is%20nicely%20thickened.%20Stir%20occasionally.%20Season%20with%20%C2%BD%20tsp%20of%20salt%20and%20some%20black%20pepper.%20I%20also%20like%20to%20grate%20in%20a%20little%20fresh%20nutmeg%20to%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20comes%20the%20fun%20part.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpread%20%C2%BD%20cup%20of%20the%20sauce%20in%20the%20baking%20dish.%20Lay%201/3%20of%20the%20noodles%20over%20top.%20Cover%20these%20with%20half%20of%20the%20squash%20mixture,%201%20cup%20of%20the%20sauce,%20half%20of%20the%20Gruyere%20cheese%20and%20a%20third%20of%20the%20Parmesan%20cheese.%20Repeat%20and%20then%20add%20a%20third%20layer%20of%20the%20noodles.%20Spread%20the%20remaining%20sauce%20over%20top%20and%20then%20the%20remaining%20Parmesan.%20Loosely%20tent%20with%20foil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20in%20the%20heated%20oven%20and%20bake%20for%2030%20minutes.%20Remove%20the%20foil%20and%20bake%20for%2020%20minutes%20longer,%20until%20bubbly%20and%20golden.%20Remove%20from%20the%20oven%20and%20let%20rest%20for%20about%2010%20minutes%20before%20cutting%20into%20squares%20to%20serve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20goes%20really%20well%20with%20a%20mixed%20salad%20of%20greens%20and%20vegetables.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
