,%20Don%20gave%20her%20a%20hand%20with%20the%20apples%20and%20pears.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20simplest%20technique%20for%20unripe%20fruit%20is%20to%20give%20the%20tree%20a%20shake%20and%20let%20the%20fruit%20fall%20on%20a%20large%20tarp%20from%20which%20they%20are%20then%20transferred%20into%20a%20bucket.%20Easy%20peasy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EShe%20also%20has%20a%20tool%20similar%20to%20the%20one%20I%20used%20in%20California%20to%20pick%20avocados%20last%20spring.%20It%20brought%20back%20such%20fond%20memories%20of%20this%20magical%20experience.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20glad%20I%20had%20taken%20our%20camera%20along%20as%20I%20discovered%20the%20most%20beautiful%20flowers%20growing%20in%20her%20garden.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20Raw%20World%20These%20Days%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20a%20different%20note,%20I%20gave%20a%20really%20fun%20food%20prep%20class%20on%20the%20weekend,%20demoing%20a%20number%20of%20raw%20vegan%20versions%20of%20popular%20recipes%20that%20usually%20call%20for%20dairy%20or%20animal%20products:%20Ranch%20Dressing,%20Corn%20Chowder,%20Cultured%20Nut%20Cheeze%20and%20Tuna%20Salad.%20They%20were%20all%20received%20with%20surprise%20and%20enthusiasm,%20especially%20the%20dessert:%20Cheesecake!%20I%20could%20feel%20that%20these%20few%20recipes%20were%20opening%20up%20a%20world%20of%20new%20possibilities%20for%20the%20participants%20and%20it%20felt%20so%20darn%20good!%20;-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20also%20making%20great%20progress%20with%20the%20new%20recipe%20book%20which%20is%20super%20exciting!%20It%20will%20be%20available%20in%20soft%20cover%20hopefully%20sometime%20this%20fall.%20It's%20a%20lot%20more%20work%20than%20the%20ebook%20format%20I've%20done%20in%20the%20past%20but%20will%20definitely%20be%20worth%20the%20extra%20effort.%20The%20aspect%20I%20like%20the%20least%20about%20the%20book%20writing%20process%20is%20that%20I%20have%20to%20hold%20on%20to%20my%20new%20creations%20instead%20of%20readily%20sharing%20them%20with%20you%20here.%20Guess%20there's%20no%20way%20around%20it...%20*sigh*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThankfully%20there%20are%20so%20many%20other%20talented%20recipe%20creators%20out%20there%20to%20cover%20for%20me%20in%20the%20meantime!%20This%20week's%20recipe%20is%20from%20a%20lady%20who%20is%20greatly%20contributing%20to%20the%20health%20movement%20in%20Calgary.%20I%20must%20admit%20that%20I%20haven't%20made%20'nut%20balls'%20in%20what%20seems%20like%20ages.%20While%20they%20used%20to%20be%20a%20regular%20dessert%20early%20on%20our%20raw%20journey,%20I've%20been%20seduced%20by%20the%20fancier%20gourmet%20cakes,%20pies%20and%20other%20scrumptious%20yummies%20that%20one%20can%20whip%20up%20in%20the%20raw.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20Coco-Chia%20Snowballs%20are%20just%20bursting%20with%20wonderfully%20nutritious%20ingredients!%20Actually%20I%20just%20realized%20that%20The%20Raw%20Life%20Health%20Store%20happens%20to%20have%20a%20lot%20of%20them%20on%20sale%20this%20month,%20including%20chia%20seeds%20for%20under%20$5%20a%20pound!!!%20Woo%20hoo!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20like%20how%20simple%20these%20Snowballs%20are%20to%20prepare%20and%20they%20are%20such%20a%20delicious%20way%20to%20get%20all%20that%20goodness!%20The%20main%20modification%20I%20made%20was%20to%20grind%20some%20of%20the%20chia%20seeds%20called%20for%20as%20it%20had%20a%20little%20too%20much%20of%20a%20crunch%20factor%20for%20my%20taste.%20Just%20make%20sure%20to%20refrigerate%20the%20balls%20for%20at%20least%2024%20hours%20so%20that%20they%20can%20firm%20up%20nicely%20and%20to%20allow%20the%20ground%20chia%20seeds%20to%20fully%20absorb%20the%20surrounding%20moisture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECoco-Chia%20Snowballs%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdapted%20from%20a%20recipe%20by%20Karin%20Haemmerle%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20all%20ingredients.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EForm%20into%201%20inch%20balls.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoll%20in%20finely%20shredded%20coconut,%20place%20on%20cookie%20sheet%20and%20refrigerate%20for%20at%20least%2024%20hours%20to%20allow%20the%20ground%20chia%20seeds%20to%20get%20absorbed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOr%20press%20into%20a%20pan%20and%20sprinkle%20extra%20coconut%20on%20top.%20Refrigerate%20and%20cut%20into%20serving%20pieces%20just%20before%20eating.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVariation:%20Replace%201/2%20cup%20chia%20seeds,%20ground%20with%20a%20mixture%20of%201/4%20cup%20hemp%20seeds,%202%20tbs%20ground%20chia%20seeds%20and%202%20tbs%20shredded%20coconut.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECarmella's%20Note:%20Don%20used%20a%20small%20plastic%20scoop%20instead%20of%20rolling%20the%20balls%20in%20his%20hands.%20So%20much%20quicker%20and%20a%20lot%20less%20messy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEnjoy!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
