%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EComing%20home%20should%20have%20been%20a%20breeze%20but%20what%20should%20have%20taken%20five%20minutes,%20took%20at%20least,%20a%20half%20an%20hour.%20%20Thankfully,%20I%20was%20not%20in%20a%20hurry%20so%20I%20amused%20myself,%20looking%20to%20see%20if%20there%20were%20any%20new%20stores%20or%20if%20any,%20had%20closed%20down.%20%20In%20this%20economy,%20changes%20seem%20to%20be%20frequent,%20and%20can%20be%20found%20on%20most%20blocks.%20%20Not%20enough%20book%20stores%20and%20too%20many%20restaurants,%20in%20my%20opinion,%20although%20we%20are%20a%20town%20of%20readers,%20as%20far%20as%20I%20can%20see.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20the%20way%20home,%20car%20after%20car%20was%20double%20parked,%20most%20with%20the%20drivers,%20in%20the%20cars.%20%20The%20street%20does%20not%20accommodate%204%20cars%20across%20plus%20those%20parked%20legally.%20%20It%20does%20not%20accommodate%203%20cars%20across%20either.%20%20That%20did%20not%20stop,%20the%20many%20cars%20who%20just%20stopped%20their%20cars%20and%20sat,%20refusing%20to%20move,%20even%20when%20traffic%20came%20to%20a%20halt.%20%20In%20one%20location,%20a%20woman%20could%20not%20get%20her%20legally%20parked%20car%20out%20of%20the%20space%20because%20of%20the%20double%20spaced%20car.%20%20That%20did%20not%20stop%20her%20from%20trying%20and%20that%20affected%20all%20of%20us,%20simply%20taking%20a%20route%20home,%20to%20make%20dinner.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20most%20frustrating%20part%20was%20the%20car%20(seemed%20like%20it%20was%20behind%20me)%20honking%20the%20horn.%20%20Believe%20me,%20if%20we%20could%20have%20moved,%20we%20would%20have.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20don't%20want%20to%20offend%20anyone%20but%20I%20am%20going%20to%20ask%20if,%20you%20do%20this,%20please%20reconsider%20the%20other%20folks%20who%20are%20inconvenienced%20by%20this.%20%20Now,%20if%20you%20are%20pregnant%20and%20on%20the%20way%20to%20the%20hospital%20and%20need%20something%20desperately,%20stop,%20by%20all%20means.%20%20I%20doubt,%20the%20folks,%20I%20saw%20were%20taking%20that%20trip.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20on%20to%20happier%20thoughts%20and%20my%20yummy%20chocolate%20chip%20cinnamon%20layered%20cake%20from%20Dining%20In%20Again.%20%20This%20is%20one%20of%20those%20homey%20cookbooks%20(professionally%20done)%20that%20always%20seems%20to%20have%20the%20recipe%20you%20want.%20It%20comes%20from%20a%20Boys'%20School%20(Moms'%20recipes).%20%20I%20don't%20like%20the%20directions.%20%20They%20seem%20to%20be%20sketchy%20but%20I%20have%20been%20able%20to%20make%20everything,%20I%20have%20wanted%20to.%20%20%20%20There%20are%20four%20recipes%20on%20two%20pages%20and%20they%20are%20set%20up,%20nicely.%20%20What%20is%20missing%20are%20photos.%20%20I%20enjoy%20looking%20at%20food%20pictures%20even%20when%20I%20am%20not%20cooking%20the%20recipes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChocolate%20Chip%20Cinnamon%20Layered%20Cake%20(adapted)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMethod:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECream%20margarine,%20oil%20and%20sugar%20in%20electric%20mixer.%20%20Add%20the%20eggs,%20one%20at%20a%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20dry%20ingredients%20and%20add%20to%20bowl,%20alternating%20with%20the%20juice.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpread%20half%20the%20batter%20into%209%20x%2013%20inch%20pan.%20(Please%20grease%20it%20first.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20cinnamon%20and%20sugar%20and%20sprinkle%20on%20top%20of%20batter.%20%20Then%20sprinkle%20half%20of%20the%20chocolate%20chips.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERepeat%20layers.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20for%201%20hour%20at%20350%20degrees%20F.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEat%20up.%20%20It%20is%20good.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*The%20instructions,%20although%20not%20exact,%20are%20the%20way%20the%20book%20presents%20them.%20%20I%20think,%20it%20is%20important%20to%20mention%20greasing%20the%20pan%20and%20mentioning%20the%20oven%20temperature,%20at%20the%20beginning%20of%20the%20recipe%20so%20it%20has%20time%20to%20heat%20%20up.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20other%20problem,%20I%20had%20was%20that%20they%20did%20not%20separate%20the%20topping%20from%20the%20batter%20and%20I%20almost%20included%20it,%20in%20the%20batter%20until%20I%20gave%20it%20a%20second%20thought%20and%20realized,%20it%20could%20not%20be%20so.%20%20I%20reread%20and%20sure%20enough,%20it%20was%20separate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlthough,%20I%20have%20been%20critical%20of%20some%20aspects%20of%20this%20cookbook,%20I%20love%20it%20and%20use%20it,%20a%20great%20deal.%20%20The%20recipes%20turn%20out%20beautifully%20and%20I%20have%20two%20of%20the%20books%20of%20this%20%22set%22%20and%20would%20like%20the%20third.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELooking%20back:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFrugal%20Thursdays%20made%20this%20unusual%20quesadilla%20.%20Go%20one%20over%20and%20find%20the%20secret%20ingredient%20in%20this%20one.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EShortbread%20Surprize%20from%20With%20a%20Blast%20-%20I%20have%20a%20feeling,%20one%20just%20keeps%20taking%20more%20of%20these%20yummy%20looking%20nuggets.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEvery%20Weeknight%20Salad%20Bar%20(I%20would%20make%20this%20for%20company%20too.)%20from%20Make%20the%20Best%20of%20Everything.
