Рецепт Pork Chops with Sauerkraut and Apples #SundaySupper
by Anne

Pork chops with sauerkraut and apples are salty, sweet and sour all in one bite, it’s perfect to  celebrate Oktoberfest. I can’t think of many other combinations that taste better than pork, sauerkraut and fresh apples.  Especially the sauerkraut.  Maybe it’s  my German background  or just that I love the taste of it, but there is always a jar of homemade sauerkraut in my fridge ready to add to sandwiches, salads or as a side.   My absolute favorite way to enjoy sauerkraut is in this dish. This week #SundaySupper is celebrating Oktoberfest which actually ENDS (not begins)  in early October, something I did not know. . . “Oktoberfest is the longest running beer festival and traveling fair held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. Cities all over the world celebrate Oktoberfest with German-inspired food, fun, and, of course, beer. It is a 16-18 day folk festival running from mid-September to the first weekend in October. Having been held every year, for 206 years, since its start in 1810, Oktoberfest is an important part of Bavarian culture. Let’s create German-inspired recipes to celebrate Oktoberfest “ When I read about this #SundaySupper theme, I knew instantly that I would be sharing my recipe for Pork Chops with Apples and Sauerkraut.  It’s super easy to make,  and it cooks slowly.  The apples almost turn into applesauce while it cooks and it smells heavenly.  I used pasture raised boneless pork chops, but you can use any type of pork chop or even a pork tenderloin will do.
