Рецепт Pickled Beet, Walnut and Goat Cheese Tart; the girls are at it again
I don’t remember when I first decided that beets and goat cheese were a perfect match, but, once the decision was made I started looking for any and all ways to pair them.
Why not a little tart?
Further contemplation of the idea added the walnuts.
But I wanted a bit more flavor…..
The answer was Pickled Beets.They’re easy enough to make and only take about an hour of ‘pickling time’. I made a batch the day before.
You could, of course, just buy pickled beets…..
Pickled Beet, Walnut and Goat Cheese Tart
Total time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
- 2 small sheets or 1 large sheet of puff pastry ut into 2 squares
- 1 cup roughly chopped pickled beets
- 1/2 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
- 3oz (90gr) soft goat cheese
Instructions:
Thaw the puff pastry, if needed.
Lay the cut pastry on a baking sheet. With a dull knife (butter knife) lightly etch around each pastry, 1/3″ (.75cm) from the edge.
Divide the goat cheese and spread evenly within the etched lines.
Top with pickled beets and walnuts.
Bake, 425F (215C) for 12 – 15 minutes, until golden brown.
Remove and serve.
The girls are being pissy again.
I suppose one could say they’re just being dogs, but I would prefer that my dogs get along.
I didn’t realize what was happening at first.
They were outside enjoying the cold sunshine. Guapa gave the usual ‘woof’ signaling that they wanted to come in. I opened the door and she came running in, but Bonnie was sitting on the walk about 10 feet from the door, looking at me.
Usually they both run in the door, side by side, knocking any human out of their way.
Bonnie just looked at me.
I called her and she sat there, looking at me.
I called again…. She didn’t move.
I finally turned around and saw Guapa, just behind me, staring daggers at her.
I had to put Guapa in the kitchen in order to get Bonnie in the house so I could close the door that was turning our warm house into a refrigerator.
Then Guapa wouldn’t let her into the kitchen.
It occurred to me that perhaps Guapa was trying to usurp my position as alpha.
I started being more firm with both of them and putting Guapa through a few more training exercises.
Today both dogs went in and out with no issues…. until just a few minutes ago. Then the same thing happened. This time I put Guapa in a down-stay in the kitchen while Bonnie came in.
Once again Guapa wouldn’t let her in the kitchen.
We haven’t had any actual fights or even growling, but there has been a lot of staring and stiff tails and nasty looks. I’m concerned about this behavior inside. I don’t need two small cows fighting in the house.
On the other hand, maybe they just have cabin-fever.
