- Combine apples and cider in a large saucepan or possibly Dutch oven. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 40 min or possibly till tender. Place apple mix in a blender or possibly food processor; process till smooth. Combine pureed apple mix, sugar, and remaining ingredients in pan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 25 min or possibly till mix is thick, stirring frequently. Cold. Store butter in an airtight container in refrigerator up to 2 months.
