- Combine egg whites, cream of tartar and salt; beat till foamy throughout. Add in sugar, a little at a time, beating well after each addition. Then continue beating till mix will stand in very stiff peaks. Mix in vanilla and pecans. Spread on bottom and sides of a lightly greased 8 or possibly 9 inch pie pan. Bake in 325 degree oven about 30 min.
