%20makes%20them%20just%20that%20much%20better.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20love%20of%20peanut%20butter%20developed%20before%20I%20actually%20have%20memories.%20%20I%20can't%20remember%20a%20time%20without%20it.%20%20Then%20one%20day%20when%20I%20was%20in%20Jr.%20High%20I%20complained%20to%20my%20Mom%20about%20what%20she%20was%20making%20me%20for%20lunch.%20%20Big%20mistake!%20%20I%20soon%20realized%20that%20may%20not%20have%20been%20one%20of%20my%20best%20moves%20when%20she%20replied%20that%20I%20could%20now%20make%20my%20own%20lunches.%20%20Hence,%20I%20had%20peanut%20butter%20and%20apricot%20jelly%20sandwiches%20for%20a%20solid%20year!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20I%20was%20in%20college,%20a%20friend%20of%20mine%20and%20I%20would%20frequently%20stop%20at%20little%20restaurant%20on%20the%20wharf%20in%20Tiburon,%20CA...%20Sam's.%20%20Roy%20always%20ordered%20a%20full%20meal,%20dinner%20or%20lunch%20of%20some%20real%20substance%20as%20we%20enjoyed%20the%20afternoon%20sunshine%20watching%20the%20boats%20sail%20by,%20but%20I%20always%20ordered%20the%20Peanut%20Butter%20Pie.%20%20For%20some%2020%20years%20I%20have%20attempted%20to%20recreate%20Sam's%20recipe,%20but%20to%20no%20avail.%20%20I'm%20still%20on%20the%20search%20for%20the%20perfect%20recipe%20-%20just%20the%20right%20texture,%20the%20optimum%20combo%20of%20chocolate%20and%20peanut%20butter,%20the%20perfect%20mouth%20feel.%20%20(Feel%20free%20to%20post%20any%20links%20if%20you%20have%20one!!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBringing%20us%20closer%20to%20the%20present,%20Michelle,%20of%20the%20Brown%20Eyed%20Baker,%20posted%20this%20Peanut%20Butter%20Cup%20Rice%20Krispie%20Treat%20a%20few%20weeks%20ago.%20%20Just%20her%20pictures%20made%20me%20swoon!%20%20Add%20in%20her%20descriptive,%20mouth%20watering%20narrative%20and%20you%20have%20a%20must%20do%20recipe.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20Rice%20Krispie%20Treats%20are%20so%20good%20that%20we%20have%20made%20them%20not%20only%20once,%20but%20twice,%20most%20recently%20for%20dessert%20on%20our%20recent%20trip%20with%20a%20few%20friends%20to%20the%20desert.%20%20When%20one's%2014%20year%20old%20son%20takes%20a%20bite%20and%20the%20eyes%20go%20wide,%20accompanied%20by%20a%20%22Wow...%20these%20are%20awesome!%22%20comment%20one%20knows%20she%20has%20a%20hit!%20%20Follow%20this%20up%20by%20a%20horde%20of%20kids%20and%20adults%20all%20scrambling%20for%20the%20largest%20piece%20accompanied%20by%20smiles%20of%20pleasure,%20and%20we%20know%20that%20the%20hit%20wasn't%20luck,%20it's%20that%20good.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFreeze%20the%20Peanut%20Butter%20Cups%20slightly%20for%20easier%20chopping!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJust%20for%20demonstration...%20directions%20have%20you%20mixing%20the%20peanut%20butter%20cups%20in%20a%20bowl%20with%20the%20peanut%20butter.%20%20This%20shot%20shows%20how%20well%20the%20correct%20amount%20covers%20the%20top%20of%20the%20treats!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20our%20first%20attempt%20we%20didn't%20realize%20quite%20how%20many%20Reese's%20Peanut%20Butter%20Cups%20it%20would%20take%20to%20cover%20the%20top%20of%20the%20treats.%20%20Not%20a%20big%20deal%20though,%20as%20we%20simply%20made%20the%20treats%20and%20covered%20them%20with%20a%20combo%20of%20the%20peanut%20butter%20and%20chocolate%20melted%20together%20(mostly%20because%20I%20didn't%20read%20Michelle's%20directions%20closely%20stating%20to%20add%20them%20separately!).%20The%20few%20pieces%20of%20the%20peanut%20butter%20cups%20were%20tossed%20in%20for%20an%20extra%20flavor%20boots%20and%20a%20touch%20of%20texture.%20%20A%20drizzle%20of%20bittersweet%20chocolate%20gave%20the%20Krispies%20some%20eye%20appeal,%20and%20they%20were%20gone%20in%2024%20hours!%20%20Our%20second%20version%20combined%20regular%20Rice%20Krispies%20with%20chocolate%20puffed%20rice%20and%20used%20half%20of%20a%20Costco%20Sized%20bag%20of%20peanut%20butter%20cups.%20%20The%20peanut%20butter%20was%20warmed%20until%20it%20was%20thin,%20gently%20stirred%20with%20the%20peanut%20butter%20cups%20and%20spread%20over%20the%20top%20of%20the%20Krispies.%20%20Melted%20chocolate%20topped%20the%20peanut%20butter%20mixture%20and%20we%20had%20a%20treat%20that%20melted%20in%20your%20mouth!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrepare%20a%209%20x%2013%20pan%20with%20cooking%20spray.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMeasure%20the%20cereal%20into%20a%20large%20mixing%20bowl%20and%20set%20aside.%20Melt%20the%20marshmallows%20and%20butter%20together%20in%20a%20medium%20saucepan%20over%20medium%20heat.%20%20Pour%20the%20melted%20marshmallow%20mixture%20over%20the%20cereal%20and%20stirring%20well%20to%20evenly%20coat%20the%20cereal.%20Pour%20into%20the%20prepared%20pan%20and%20use%20a%20small%20buttered%20piece%20of%20waxed%20paper,%20plastic%20wrap,%20small%20zip%20lock%20bag,%20or%20the%20back%20of%20a%20spoon%20sprayed%20with%20cooking%20spray%20to%20press%20evenly%20into%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20sauce%20pan%20melt%20the%20peanut%20butter%20over%20medium%20heat%20until%20thin.%20%20Pour%20over%20the%20quartered%20peanut%20butter%20cups,%20stirring%20gently%20to%20combine.%20%20Then%20pour%20over%20the%20treats.%20%20Use%20the%20back%20of%20a%20spoon%20to%20gently%20spread%20the%20peanut%20butter%20mixture%20evenly%20across%20the%20top%20of%20the%20krispies.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20the%20chopped%20chocolate%20(either%20in%20the%20microwave%20or%20over%20the%20stove)%20stirring%20frequently.%20%20Drizzle%20the%20melted%20chocolate%20across%20the%20top%20of%20the%20peanut%20butter%20mixture%20and%20place%20the%20pan%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20to%20set%20before%20cutting%20and%20serving.%20%20Store%20in%20an%20airtight%20container.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlternatively:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMake%20stir%20cereal%20and%20marshmallow%20mixture%20as%20directed%20above%20and%20press%20into%20pan.%20%20Melt%20peanut%20butter%20and%20chocolate%20together,%20stirring%20frequently%20until%20melted.%20%20Pour%20over%20the%20Krispies,%20spreading%20to%20cover.%20%20Place%20in%20refrigerator%20to%20set,%20then%20drizzle%20with%20more%20melted%20chocolate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPeanut%20Butter%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
