%20I%20ended%20combining%20parts%20of%20other%20recipes%20I%20had%20been%20making%20for%20years,%20along%20with%20pure%20experimental%20madness!%20It%20paid%20off%20as%20this%20cake%20went%20down%20very%20well%20at%20work!%20Its%20my%20final%20week%20in%20my%20current%20job,%20and%20as%20a%20result%20I%20was%20requested%20to%20make%20lots%20of%20cake%20-%20they%20had%20chai%20tea%20fruit%20cake%20yesterday%20and%20today%20received%20this%20Oreo%20cake%20-%20the%20finale%20on%20Friday%20my%20renowned%20Sticky%20Toffee%20and%20Orange%20pudding!%20Next%20week%20is%20salad%20week!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20cake%20has%20a%20soft,%20custard%20laced%20base%20sponge,%20topped%20with%20a%20banana%20and%20peanut%20puree,%20then%20crumbled%20up%20peanut%20butter%20Oreo's%20and%20oats,%20then%20a%20shiny%20chocolate%20glaze,%20oh%20and%20the%20requisite%20sprinkles%20of%20choice!%20I%20am%20tempted%20next%20time%20to%20add%20more%20banana%20to%20make%20a%20thicker%20layer%20but%20stick%20to%20two%20if%20you%20are%20are%20less%20persuaded%20by%20the%20idea!%20I%20roast%20my%20own%20peanuts%20(shelled%20from%20monkey%20nuts)%20as%20they%20taste%20better%20for%20baking%20and%20have%20no%20nasties,%20then%20grind%20them%20fresh%20to%20order%20-%20un-ground%20they%20will%20keep%20a%20fair%20few%20months%20in%20a%20cool%20air%20tight%20container.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20will%20need%20a%208%20%22%20square%20pan,%20lined%20with%20parchment%20paper%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPre-heat%20oven%20to%20180o.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESift%20together%20the%20flours,%20salt%20and%20custard%20powder.%20In%20a%20separate%20bowl%20cream%20together%20the%20butter,%20sugar%20and%20egg,%20fold%20in%20the%20dry%20mix.%20Spread%20over%20the%20base%20of%20the%20prepared%20lined%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20the%20cornflour%20with%202%20tbsp%20water,%20add%20to%20a%20small%20saucepan%20and%20heat%20-%20stirring%20constantly,%20once%20bubbling%20add%20the%20vanilla,%20then%20stir%20in%20the%20bananas%20and%20cook%20for%20two%20minutes.%20Remove%20to%20one%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECrush%20the%20Oreo's%20to%20small%20chunks,%20about%205cm%20at%20the%20biggest%20-%20I%20found%20the%20end%20of%20my%20wooden%20rolling%20pin%20most%20effective!%20Combine%20with%20the%20oats%20and%20put%20to%20one%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20slightly%20cooled%20banana%20mix%20to%20the%20prepared%20sponge%20layer%20and%20smooth%20over.%20Top%20with%20the%20Oreo%20crumbs%20and%20press%20lightly%20down,%20bake%20in%20the%20middle%20of%20the%20oven%20for%2030-35%20minutes%20or%20until%20the%20sponge%20has%20cooked%20through.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20saucepan,%20melt%20the%20butter,%20add%20the%20sugar%20and%20cocoa%20whisking%20until%20smooth%20and%20the%20sugar%20has%20melted,%20then%20whisk%20in%20the%20milk%20to%20form%20a%20smooth,%20thick%20sauce%20and%20simmer%20on%20a%20moderate%20heat%20for%202-3%20minutes%20or%20until%20lovely%20and%20glossy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpoon%20the%20sauce%20over%20the%20cake,%20then%20decorate%20with%20sprinkles%20of%20choice%20and%20allow%20to%20cool%20fully%20in%20the%20tin.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20has%20been%20a%20few%20of%20us%20Foodies%20100%20bloggers%20taking%20part%20-%20I%20will%20add%20them%20all%20here%20shortly!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
