- In a large bowl with an electric mixer, combine peanut butter, shortening and vanilla.
- Once mixed, add one cup of confectioner's sugar and blend well.
- Add 2 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream, mixing just until combined.
- Repeat this step for the remainder of the confectioner's sugar and heavy whipping cream, each time mixing just until combined.
- Spread 3/4 to 1 cup on the bottom layer of cake, reserve remainder for sides, topping and decoration (see picture).
