Avocado brownies are simply just brownies made using the natural fats (and vitamins!) of avocados instead of the traditional vegetable oil and eggs. Check out how many calories you’ll save just from using avocados in place of the classic brownie box ingredients.Ever wondered how to get that pretty peanut butter swirl on top of your brownies? All you’ve got to do is drop spoonfuls of peanut butter (I used creamy) on top of the raw batter and take a sharp knife through the globs in long, slow strokes. It’s so easy but really adds to the visual appeal of this homemade brownie recipe- and makes them even easier to photograph! As they say, you eat with your eyes first!Since I’ve baked these brownies often, I’ll offer you some insider tips to getting the best avocado brownies from a boxed mix.
Puree the avocado until it’s silky smooth. Press it through a sieve or use a food mill or baby food grinder to get it creamy smooth.
Use the best brownie mix. If you want stellar brownies that WOW your friends, be sure to invest in the highest quality brownie mix for this recipe.
Bake them longer. Bake these brownies just a smidge more than classic brownies from scratch, about 3-5 minutes longer than the box states.
- Peanut Butter Avocado Brownies Ingredients
- 1 box brownie mix (for 9x9" batch) ⅔ cup pureed avocado ⅓ cup water ½ cup peanut butter Instructions
Butter a 9x9" baking dish and preheat oven according to the brownie mix box instructions. Add brownie mix, pureed avocado, and water to a large bowl and stir to combine. Pour into greased baking dish. Dollop spoonfuls of peanut butter on top of brownie batter and use a sharp knife to pull through the batter to marble it. Bake according to brownie mix instructions. If a toothpick inserted comes out with raw batter, continue cooking 5 minutes or until it removes clean. Cool completely and slice brownies with a plastic knife for best results. Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the refrigerator. 3.2.1311
