Рецепт Parupu Thogayal
It is freezing cold outside and the Sun has taken a sabbatical for more than a week. The grayish sky seems to be draining out all our energy and interest, all we could do is hours in front of tv cuddled in a throw. The only comfort about this dull weather is food. Something hot and spicy and this one is one of family's favourite.
This recipe is from my mother in law. Parupu thogayal with milagu kuzhambu is everyone's favourite combination. Quite simple to prepare. All you have to do is roast few ingredients and grind it. Another good thing about is that it can be paired with so many dishes. Parupu thogayal and Jeera Rasam ( any rasam for that matter), Parupu thogayal and vatha kuzhambu, milagu kuzhambu or just a simple sutta appalam is enough.
Parupu Thogayal
Simple and plain. Roasted dal ground with chilly.
Prep Time: 5 Mins | Cook Time: 1 Min | Total Time: 6 Mins | Serves: 2
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup Tuvaram Parupu | Toor Dal
- 1/4 Cup Kadala Parupu | Channa Dal
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp Oil
2 Red chillies
Instructions
Roast dal, chillies and pepper in oil until it turns golden brown.
Let it cool and then grind it to a thick smooth paste by adding little water.
Add salt and mix well. Serve it with hot rice.
Notes
This dal is paired with Rasam or withspicy gravies like milagu kuzhambu or vathal kuzhambu.
As we have this with kuzhambu which is spicy, I reduced the chilly amount in the thogayal (hence the pale colour). You can adjust the spice level as per your convenience.
Some mix this with rice and eat while some have this as a side to above mentioned spicy gravies.
