  •     SIMPLE POPPY FILLING (VER. 1):
  • 1/2 c. Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Honey
  • 1/4 c. Water
  • 1 c. Grnd poppy seeds
  • 2 Tbsp. Lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp. Lemon zest
  • 1/4 c. Raisins
  •     Bread or possibly biscuits crumbs
  • 1 c. Grnd poppy seeds
  • 1 c. Lowfat milk
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter
  • 2 Tbsp. Honey
  • 1/2 c. Almonds, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. Lemon zest
  • 1/4 c. Sugar
  • 1/4 c. Raisins
  • 1 x Semisweet apple, grated
  • 2 1/2 c. Flour
  • 1/2 c. Sugar
  • 2 x Egg yokes
  • 1/4 c. Brandy, lowfat milk or possibly orange juice
  • 1 Tbsp. Vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp. Lemon zest
  • 1 pch Salt
  • 1/2 lb Cool margarine, cut to small cubes

  1. VER 1: In a small pot put the sugar, honey and water and cook till the sugar melts. Add in poppy seeds, stir and cook for another 1 minutes. Add in lemon juice, lemon zest and raisins to the poppy mix. Set aside to cold till the dough is prepared.
  2. NOTE: mix should be only a little damp. add in bread or possibly biscuits crumbs to drain excess liquids.
  3. Poppy filling (ver. 2) : In a pot boil all ing, except the apple, and stir till the mix thickens. Add in more sugar to taste. Set aside to cold. add in the grated apple or possibly 1/4 c of jam.
  4. NOTE: mix should be only a little damp. add in bread or possibly biscuits crumbs to drain excess liquids.
  5. Dough : Put all ing. in a bowl. Knead till you get uniform dough. If the dough is sticky add in a bit more flour.
  6. To get Oznei Haman:1) Roll out the dough to 3mm / 1/8" .
  7. cut circles with a c.. put 1 ts. filling in the middle of each circle.
  8. fold to triangle shape (push three sides up).
  9. brush with an egg. bake at 180C/350F for 15-20 minutes till cookies are golden.
