Overnight Yeasted Flaky Biscuits

Ингредиенты

  • 5 c. flour plus more
  • 8 tsp baking pwdr
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 c. cool butter - (1/2 stick)
  • 1/2 c. cool shortening
  • 5 tsp dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 3/4 c. hot buttermilk - (to 2 c.)
  •     Melted butter as needed

Инструкции

  1. Stir together flour, baking pwdr, salt, baking soda and sugar in large bowl. Cut butter and shortening into dry ingredients till crumbly and well distributed.
  2. In small bowl, sprinkle yeast over hot water and stir briefly. Allow to dissolve and swell, 5 - 10 min.
  3. Add in yeast mix and hot buttermilk to dry ingredients and toss with a fork to blend and moisten. Cover bowl and chill overnight or possibly up to 2 days.
  4. To make biscuits, roll dough out on lightly floured board to a thickness of 1 inch or possibly so. Cut into rounds, wedges or possibly squares with a knife or possibly biscuit cutter. Brush generously with melted butter.
  5. Place on baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees till lightly browned on top, about 12 to 15 min.
  6. This recipe yields 18 biscuits.
