Our New Baby: Introducing Sidekick!
Everybody, please welcome our new baby! Weighing in at 8 pounds, 10 ounces and 20 inches, this little dude is happily settling into life with our family at the new house. It occurred to me as I brought him home from the hospital that this new house – Nate and I’s dream come true – might just be the only place that our new baby ever refers to as “home” throughout his entire childhood. It makes me feel so peaceful during this hectic time of our lives to envision my boys here 5, 10, 15 years down the line. %20and%20gave%20birth%20to%20our%20son%20less%20than%20four%20hours%20after%20waking%20up%20at%20home.%20The%20same%20doctor%20who%20examined%20me%20earlier%20that%20day%20was%20the%20one%20to%20deliver%20our%20new%20baby.%20I%20did%20manage%20to%20taunt%20him%20the%20tinsiest%20bit%20amidst%20my%20pain.%20%E2%80%9CFancy%20seeing%20you%20here,%E2%80%9D%20I%20said,%20%E2%80%9Cbefore%20next%20week!%E2%80%9D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESidekick%20is%20here:%20Welcoming%20Our%20New%20Baby%20to%20the%20Family%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20watching%20Some%20Boy%20with%20the%20little%20guy%20for%20a%20little%20while,%20we%E2%80%99ve%20decided%20to%20refer%20to%20him%20as%20%E2%80%9CSidekick%E2%80%9D%20here%20on%20the%20blog%20(as%20with%20Some%20Boy,%20we%20won%E2%80%99t%20be%20revealing%20our%20new%20baby%E2%80%99s%20real%20name%20for%20privacy%20reasons).%20We%E2%80%99ve%20had%20to%20explain%20to%20Some%20Boy%20a%20few%20times%20to%20be%20gentle%20with%20the%20baby,%20but%20he%E2%80%99s%20taking%20to%20being%20a%20big%20brother%20like%20a%20fish%20takes%20to%20water.%20He%20gives%20the%20baby%20gentle%20little%20kisses%20and%20hugs,%20and%20the%20other%20day%20I%20even%20caught%20him%20trying%20to%20share%20his%20lollipop%20with%20Sidekick.%20We%20didn%E2%80%99t%20find%20out%20our%20new%20baby%E2%80%99s%20gender%20ahead%20of%20time,%20but%20I%E2%80%99m%20really%20glad%20I%20had%20two%20boys.%20My%20heart%20just%20melts%20knowing%20that%20Some%20Boy%20will%20have%20a%20brother%20to%20play%20around%20with.%20These%20two%20will%20be%20thick%20as%20thieves.%20The%20dog,%20Kracken,%20has%20even%20gotten%20used%20to%20having%20our%20new%20baby%20in%20the%20house,%20curling%20up%20protectively%20next%20to%20Sidekick%20in%20the%20baby%20bouncer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESidekick%20is%20a%20week%20old%20now,%20and%20he%E2%80%99s%20settling%20in%20nicely.%20He%E2%80%99s%20had%20a%20little%20trouble%20with%20jaundice%20but%20seems%20to%20be%20feeling%20almost%20all%20the%20way%20better%20now%20as%20he%20adjusts%20into%20a%20stable%20eating%20routine.%20He%20had%20a%20couple%20scary%20incidences%20of%20severe%20choking%20in%20the%20hospital%20(they%20think%20he%20swallowed%20too%20much%20%E2%80%9Cstuff%E2%80%9D%20during%20his%20rapid%20travel%20into%20the%20world),%20but%20fortunately%20hasn%E2%80%99t%20repeated%20that%20at%20home.%20We%E2%80%99re%20keeping%20our%20fingers%20crossed%20that%20our%20new%20baby%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20wind%20up%20having%20acid%20reflux%20like%20his%20big%20brother.%20So%20far%20he%E2%80%99s%20shown%20a%20lot%20of%20cute%20little%20preferences:%20he%20loves%20being%20held%20and%20absolutely%20hates%20having%20his%20diaper%20changed,%20seems%20to%20enjoy%20stretching%20his%20limbs%20out%20and%20can%E2%80%99t%20stand%20being%20tightly%20swaddled.%20Nate%E2%80%99s%20taken%20some%20time%20off%20of%20work%20and%20we%E2%80%99re%20so%20happy%20to%20just%20kick%20back%20and%20relax%20a%20little%20at%20home%20with%20our%20new%20baby,%20the%20toddler%20and%20the%20puppy.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
