Рецепт oatmeal cookie smoothie
Seems I might have a little bit of an obsession of making smoothies that taste more like desserts.
Is this a bad thing?
It took me YEARS to figure out smoothie recipes that I actually like. Years! And I have no idea what my aversion is about them. I think, as tastes change over the years, I just had some smoothies that weren’t really up my alley and it totally turned me off to ALL smoothies for a while.
For years, I would never, ever buy or make a smoothie that had yogurt in it. I didn’t want any tang at all in mine! Just milk, thankyouverymuch. Or just a mix of fruits + juices. I guess, because smoothies usually look like milkshakes that I expected them to taste like a milkshake – sweet, not tangy.
Plus, my other issue is that smoothies seem like a breakfast thing to me. And for the majority of the year, I cannot have cold breakfasts. At all. From fall through spring, I want warm breakfasts – I’m already cold in the mornings and a freezing cold smoothie does not sound appealing.
But.
Summer is a different story. And, afternoons are one of my favorite times to have smoothies now, as an easy snack, when I’ve been awake for longer and am warmed up a bit.
And, of course, trying a bunch of different recipes and mixes until I found some good bases that I love helped.
After making a blueberry muffin smoothie a few years ago (that I still make a lot!) and a strawberry orange oatmeal smoothie, I wanted something that felt even MORE dessert-like, but was still healthy and not a total sugar-punch. I don’t need to be crashing in the afternoon, but it is nice to have something that feels like a treat.
This oatmeal cookie smoothie is the perfect mix of decadent-meets-good-for-you mixes. The oats soften in the milk, giving it a cookie-dough like texture. Plus, the mix of milk and Stonyfield Petite Creme is so delicious -barely any tang at all! I am in love with this Petite Creme. It’s everything I love about yogurt without so much tang. And so, so creamy.
You could definitely punch this up even more with extra spices or extracts that you love – I bet almond or coconut would be fantastic!
Not all smoothies are created equal! I've finally learned this after years of trying. This mix gives you the sweet, simple flavor of an oatmeal cookie but it's much better for you! A base of milk and yogurt offers up a good amount of protein, and the oats give it a little more staying power. This smoothie would make a great breakfast with a piece of fruit and it's great as afternoon snack or healthy dessert!
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup raw oats
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 tsp chia seeds
- 1 container Petite Creme or your favorite greek yogurt (the thicker, the better!)
- 1 Tbsp almond or cashew butter
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp vanilla
- pinch salt
- 1/2 cup ice
Directions:
Place the oats, milk, and chia seeds into your blender and let them sit together for a few minutes.
Add the yogurt, nut butter, cinnamon, vanilla, salt, and ice.
Blend for 2-4 minutes until the mixture is smooth and the ice is broken up.
