Рецепт Not Always What They Seem...
by Amber Massey

It might seem logical to pick an entree with green leafy vegetables as the base- making for a sneaky entrance for those extra (EXTRA) calories. Don't be fooled by some of these familiar items on your favorite restaurant menu:

The Not So Good!

Romano's Macaroni Grill Chicken Florentine Salad – 1,020 calories/17 g fat/2,830 mg sodium

Chili’s Caesar Salad w/ Grilled Chicken & Caesar Dressing-1,010 calories/76 g fat/1,910 mg sodium

On the Border Grande Taco Salad w/ Taco Beef - 1,452 calories/102 g fat/2,410 mg sodium

Worth mentioning that..This salad was chosen by Men’s Health as the Worst Salad in America in 2008 – perhaps because it contains “as much saturated fat as 40 strips of bacon and more calories than 11 Taco Bell Fresco Tacos.” OHH, geez.

Quizno's Chicken Honey Mustard Flatbread Chopped Salad - 1,070 calories/71.1 g fat/1,770 mg sodium

Wendy's Baja Salad - 740 calories/47 g fat/1,990 mg sodium

Try these instead!

Romano's Macaroni Grill Scallop & Spinach Salad- 330 calories (but watch that soduim!! Cut the 1,660 mg sodium in half..dressing on the side, please!)

Chili's Grilled Caribbean Salad- 550 calories/22 g fat/630 mg sodium

OTB Citrus Chipotle Chicken Salad w Mango Citrus Dressing- 290 calories/4 g fat/ 840 mg sodium

Quizno's Small Pan Asian Chicken Salad- 290 calories/11 g fat/ another sodium packed salad.. dressing on the side to cut 1,080 mg sodium!

Be careful of items on the menu that boast crispy, crunchy, creamy, or cheesy. Also, steer clear of the deep fat fried tortilla bowl of the Taco Salads. Instead, try your hand at making a yummy version of thise Mexican favorite at home!

Notyo (Nacho) Typical Taco Salad

INGREDIENTS:

DIRECTIONS:

Combine salsa and sour cream in a large bowl. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook, stirring often, until softened, about 2 minutes. Add beef and cook, stirring often and crumbling with a wooden spoon, until cooked through, about 5 minutes. Add cumin and chili powder; cook, stirring, until the meat is browned and cooked through. Remove from the heat, allow to cool slightly.

Add lettuce to the salsa mixture in the bowl; toss to coat. To serve, divide the lettuce among 4 plates, top with the beef mixture and sprinkle with cheese, top with corn, beans, tomatoes, and crushed tortilla chips. Serve with additional salsa and sour cream, if desired.
