- Finely chop sufficient onion to measure 1/2 c. and mince garlic.
- In a large skillet cook onion and garlic in oil over moderate heat, stirring, till onion is softened.
- Add in beef to skillet and cook, stirring, till browned. Spoon off any excess oil from skillet and stir in remaining ingredients.
- Simmer mix over moderate heat till almost all liquid is evaporated, about 10 min.
- Transfer mix to a food processor and pulse about 5 times, or possibly just till meat is finely grnd.
- Serve sauce on warm dogs over mustard and raw onions.
- Makes about 2 c.,sufficient for 8 to 10 chili dogs.
