Nancy's Molasses Cookies

My mother-in-law makes these for Christmas and they are my favorite of all of her cookies.

Ингредиенты

  • 3/4 C shortening
  • 1 C sugar
  • 1/4 C molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 C flour
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Cinnamon Red Hots

Инструкции

  1. Melt shortening over low heat. Cool. Add sugar, molasses and egg; beat well.
  2. Sift dry ingredients and add to first mixture. Mix well and chill.
  3. Divide chilled dough into 2 equal parts and keep half chilled while working with other half.
  4. Form 1-inch balls and flatten with a floured fork on wax paper.
  5. Place cookies on cooled cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes.
  6. While cookies are still warm, press a red hot into the center of the cookie.
