%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToday's%20post%20will%20be%20about%20sugar%20cookies.%20%20You%20know..the%20kind%20you%20cut,%20bake%20and%20decorate.%20%20At%20one%20point,%20a%20few%20years%20ago,%20I%20had%20a%20little%20side%20business%20called%20%22Katie's%20Konfections%22.%20%20Catchy,%20right?%20%20Well,%20that%20little%20business%20helped%20pay%20for%20Christmas%20one%20year,%20but%20it%20was%20OVERWHELMING!%20%20One%20of%20the%20most%20ordered%20items%20were%20my%20decorated%20sugar%20cookies.%20%20We%20did%20them%20for%20all%20occasions.%20%20Baby%20showers,%20bridal%20shower,%20birthdays%20and%20holidays.%20%20I%20like%20to%20think%20that%20this%20particular%20cookie%20is%20one%20that%20I%20perfected%20over%20the%20years.%20%20The%20cookies%20are%20slightly%20crisp%20on%20the%20outside%20but%20soft%20and%20moist%20on%20the%20inside.%20%20We've%20tried%20different%20frosting/icing%20recipes%20over%20the%20years%20as%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20year,%20we%20made%20a%20batch%20of%20cookies%20and%20frosting%20just%20for%20our%20boys%20to%20decorate.%20%20I%20may%20have%20mentioned%20my%20boys%20once%20or%20twice%20in%20previous%20posts,%20but%20if%20not,%20they%20are%204%20and%2011.%20%20They%20love%20to%20mess%20around%20in%20the%20kitchen%20as%20well,%20especially%20the%20little%20guy.%20%20%20Here%20are%20pics%20of%20the%20boys%20and%20their%20decorating%20extravaganza%20as%20well%20as%20the%20cookies%20that%20my%20husband%20and%20I%20decorated.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20slowly%20add%20to%20wet%20mixture.%20%20Dough%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewill%20seem%20as%20if%20it%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20have%20enough%20moisture,%20but%20continue%20to%20mix%20with%20mixer%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Euntil%20combined.%20%20Shape%20into%20disk%20and%20wrap%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewith%20saran%20wrap;%20refrigerate%20until%20firm.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20350%20degrees%20F.%20%20Roll%20out%20dough%20between%20two%20sheets%20of%20waxed%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Epaper.%20%20Cut%20out%20with%20cookie%20cutters%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eplace%20on%20cookie%20sheets%20(line%20with%20parchment%20paper).%20%20Bake%207-8%20minutes.%20%20Remove%20from%20oven,%20let%20cool%20for%20one%20minute,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethen%20transfer%20to%20cooling%20racks.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20disk%20=%2049ish%20medium%20cookies;%2030%20large;%2020%20extra%20large%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMix%20until%20desired%20consistency%E2%80%A6.apply%20to%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20I%20stated%20before%20this%20is%20a%20great%20standard%20cookie%20to%20add%20to%20your%20recipe%20collection.%20%20It%20can%20be%20adapted%20to%20any%20occasion%20as%20long%20as%20you%20have%20the%20cookie%20cutters%20and%20the%20coloring.%20%20One%20tip%20-%20when%20it%20comes%20to%20coloring%20your%20icing%20or%20cookies..or%20even%20cake,%20I%20prefer%20gels%20over%20your%20standard%20food%20coloring.%20%20The%20colors%20will%20be%20bolder%20and%20more%20intense%20and%20you%20will%20need%20to%20use%20less%20of%20the%20actual%20gel.%20%20With%20that..start%20with%20very%20little%20gel%20and%20add%20more%20until%20reached%20the%20desired%20color.%20%20Wilton%20has%20a%20great%20line%20of%20gels%20in%20all%20colors.%20%20The%20icing%20recipe%20above%20is%20for%20a%20simple%20and%20thin%20royal%20icing%20for%20piping%20and%20flooding.%20%20The%20royal%20icing%20used%20in%20the%20pics%20above%20is%20different.%20%20I'll%20try%20to%20type%20that%20recipe%20up%20and%20post%20at%20a%20later%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%20are%20some%20photos%20of%20the%20cookies%20decorated%20by%20myself%20and%20the%20husband.%20%20As%20always..enjoy!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
