Hey kiddies! Guess what? It’s Ice Cream Week!
Yeah, you heard me. I’ve joined forces with a bunch of my favourite bloggers to put together a whole week of ice creamy goodness, including three (yes THREE) posts from yours truly. Let the feasting begin!

%20posts%20from%20yours%20truly.%20Let%20the%20feasting%20begin!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20kick%20things%20off,%20I%20figured%20I%E2%80%99d%20start%20with%20my%20most%20favourite%20flavour%20of%20all%20time:%20chocolate%20mint%20chip%20ice%20cream.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGrowing%20up,%20my%20parents%20would%20sometimes%20take%20us%20to%20the%20ice%20cream%20shop%20up%20the%20street%20for%20a%20special%20treat%20in%20the%20summertime,%20especially%20on%20hot%20sticky%20evenings%20when%20the%20lack%20of%20air%20conditioning%20got%20unbearable.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBack%20then,%20my%20usual%20order%20was%20a%20sugar%20cone%20with%20a%20single%20scoop%20of%20bubblegum%20ice%20cream%20%E2%80%93%20obviously%20the%20best%20choice%20according%20to%20my%20grade-school-girl%20logic%20because%20once%20the%20ice%20cream%20was%20gone,%20I%20still%20had%20a%20mouthful%20of%20gum%20left%20to%20chew%20on.%20Two%20birds,%20one%20stone.%20(And%20also,%20little%20girls%20are%20naturally%20inclined%20to%20like%20things%20that%20are%20obnoxiously%20pink.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20eventually%20developed%20a%20slightly%20more%20sophisticated%20palate%20and%20moved%20on%20to%20more%20grown-up%20flavours.%20PB%20and%20chocolate,%20raspberry%20cheesecake%20and%20mocha%20almond%20fudge%20always%20ranked%20quite%20high%20in%20my%20books,%20but%20most%20of%20all,%20there%20was%20always%20mint%20chip.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20yes%20I%20know%20that%20colour%20isn%E2%80%99t%20entirely%20natural,%20but%20mint%20chip%20ice%20cream%20just%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20taste%20the%20same%20to%20me%20unless%20it%E2%80%99s%20an%20obnoxious%20shade%20of%20pale%20minty%20green.%20It%20totally%20goes%20against%20my%20usual%20all-natural,%20no-additives,%20no-artificial-stuff%20approach%20to%20food,%20but%20I%20figure%20a%20few%20drops%20of%20food%20colouring%20won%E2%80%99t%20kill%20me%20in%20the%20long%20run%E2%80%A6%20and%20if%20they%20do,%20at%20least%20I%E2%80%99ll%20die%20eating%20a%20right%20proper%20mint%20chip%20ice%20cream,%20all%20refreshingly%20minty%20and%20full%20of%20crackly%20dark%20chocolate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESounds%20like%20a%20pretty%20good%20way%20to%20go,%20if%20you%20ask%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMint%20Chip%20Ice%20Cream%20%20%20%20%20Total%20time%20%206%20hours%2015%20mins%20%20%20%20%20This%20homemade%20version%20of%20the%20ice%20cream%20shop%20classic%20will%20have%20you%20swearing%20off%20storebought%20forever,%20thanks%20to%20its%20combo%20of%20fresh%20mint%20and%20crackly%20bittersweet%20chocolate.%20%20Author:%20Isabelle%20Boucher%20(Crumb)%20Recipe%20type:%20Dessert%20Serves:%208%20%20%20Ingredients%20Mint%20Ice%20Cream%20Base:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20cups%20heavy%20cream.%20divided%201%20cup%20whole%20milk%202%20cups%20fresh%20mint%20leaves%20%C2%BE%20cup%20sugar%20%C2%BC%20tsp%20salt%204%20egg%20yolks%201%20tbsp%20creme%20de%20menthe%20(optional)%202-3%20drops%20green%20food%20colouring%20(optional)%201-2%20drops%20blue%20food%20colouring%20(optional)%20Bittersweet%20Chocolate%20Chips:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4%20oz%20bittersweet%20chocolate,%20finely%20chopped%202%20tsp%20canola%20oil%20%20%20Instructions%20Make%20the%20Custard%20Base:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20saucepan%20set%20over%20medium-high%20heat,%20heat%201%20cup%20heavy%20cream%20with%20the%20milk%20until%20wisps%20of%20steam%20start%20to%20rise%20from%20the%20surface.%20Immediately%20remove%20from%20heat%20and%20stir%20in%20the%20mint%20leaves.%20Cover%20and%20let%20stand%20for%201%20hour%20to%20allow%20the%20flavours%20to%20infuse.%20Pour%20the%20infused%20cream%20through%20a%20fine%20mesh%20strainer%20to%20remove%20the%20mint,%20pressing%20firmly%20on%20the%20leaves%20to%20extract%20as%20much%20flavour%20as%20possible.%20Stir%20in%20the%20sugar%20and%20salt,%20and%20return%20the%20infused%20cream%20to%20the%20stovetop%20over%20medium-high%20heat.%20Warm%20the%20cream%20until%20wisps%20of%20steam%20start%20to%20rise%20from%20the%20surface.%20In%20a%20medium%20sized%20mixing%20bowl,%20whisk%20together%20the%20egg%20yolks,%20then%20slowly%20pour%20some%20of%20the%20warm%20mint%20mixture%20into%20the%20yolks,%20whisking%20constantly,%20then%20scrape%20the%20warmed%20yolks%20back%20into%20the%20saucepan.%20Cook%20the%20custard,%20stirring%20constantly,%20until%20the%20mixture%20thickens%20enough%20to%20coat%20the%20back%20of%20a%20wooden%20spoon.%20Immediately%20remove%20from%20heat,%20and%20stir%20in%20the%20remaining%201%20cup%20cream%20along%20with%20the%20creme%20de%20menthe%20and%20food%20colouring,%20if%20using.%20Scrape%20the%20custard%20into%20a%20clean%20mixing%20bowl,%20and%20cover%20with%20plastic%20wrap,%20placing%20the%20wrap%20directly%20on%20the%20surface%20of%20the%20custard%20to%20stop%20a%20skin%20from%20forming.%20Chill%20thoroughly%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20for%20at%20least%202%20hours.%20Make%20the%20Chocolate%20Chips:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20the%20custard%20base%20is%20chilling,%20melt%20the%20chocolate%20in%20the%20microwave%20or%20a%20double%20boiler%20until%20smooth.%20Add%20the%20oil,%20and%20set
