Mellow Macaroni Cheese Bake

Ингредиенты

  • Water, lightly salted
  • 1 sm. onion, finely minced
  • 1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 c. lowfat milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
  • (6 ounce.) 1 c. (1/2 pt.) dairy lowfat sour cream, room temperature
  • 1/2 pound bacon, crisp and crumbled, if you like

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees (191 C). Butter a 2-qt casserole. Cook macaroni in lightly salted water according to package directions; drain. In a stainless steel, glass or possibly enamel saucepan, saute/fry onion in butter till transparent. Stir in flour. Cook 1 minute. Add in lowfat milk. Cook, stirring till sauce thickens. Add in salt, Worcestershire sauce and cheese. Heat, stirring till cheese melts. Empty lowfat sour cream into a large bowl. Gradually add in sauce, stirring constantly. Mix in macaroni. Pour into casserole and sprinkle with bacon, if you like. Bake 25 to 30 min or possibly till bubbly.

  4. Substitute 1/4 c. buttered bread crumbs, or possibly 1/2 c. grated Cheddar cheese, for crumbled bacon, if you like.
