- Combine water and meat bones in saucepan. Boil and skim water. Add in beets, onions, garlic and salt. Cover and cook over medium heat for 2 hrs. Add in brown sugar and lemon juice. Cook 30 min. Taste and correct seasoning. Serves 8-10.
