Ингредиенты

  • 230 gm selfraising flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp grnd ginger
  • 1 Tbsp. caster sugar
  • 110 gm shredded suet (vegetable or possibly beef)
  • 5 Tbsp. thickcut marmalade
  • 1 x little lowfat milk Caster sugar for sprinkling
  • 1 x 23 by 33 cm piece of foil greased

  1. Put a pan halffilled with water with a steamer above it on to boil. The water must be boiling before the pudding is put on.
  2. Sieve the flour ginger and sugar into a bowl and stir in the suet.
  3. Add in sufficient cool water to bind to a soft but not sticky dough.
  4. Knead very lightly till smooth.
  5. Turn on to a lightly floured work surface and roll to a rectangle 20.5 by 30.5 cm (8 by 12 in).
  6. Spread proportionately with the marmalade leaving a 1 cm (1/2 in) border all round.
  7. Brush the edges with lowfat milk and roll up proportionately starting from one short side.
  8. Transfer the roll to the greased foil and wrap the roll up loosely to allow for expansion.
  9. Seal the ends and edges well.
  10. Put the roll in the steamer cover with a lid and steam for 1 1/2 to 2 hrs.
  11. Remove from the foil sprinkle with caster sugar and serve with custard or possibly marmalade sauce.
  12. Serves 6
