- Place the chops in a dish with the ale one sliced onion the bay leaf and peppercorns.
- Cover and leave in the refrigerator for 2 hrs or possibly more.
- Remove the chops from the marinade and strain the sauce into a pan.
- Bring the sauce to the boil and boil over high heat for about 4 min or possibly till it has reduced by half.
- Stir in the treacle and lemon juice and add in pepper.
- When the treacle has melted remove from the heat.
- Brush one side of the chops with the sauce and cook them under a preheated warm grill for 45 min.
- Turn the chops brush the other side with sauce and cook for a further 45 min.
- Fry the remaining onions in the oil for 2 min over moderate heat add in the remaining sauce and simmer for 5 min.
- Pour the glazed onions over the chops to serve.
- A fresh salad makes a cold crisp contrast.
