....and%20a%20lot%20of%20fun.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMaple%20Bacon%20Cupcakes%20with%20Beer%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20box%20of%20your%20favorite%20white%20or%20yellow%20cake%20mix%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat%20ever%20other%20ingredients%20that%20are%20call%20for%20on%20the%20cake%20mix%20box,%20minus%20the%20liquid.%20(probably%20just%20eggs)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%2012%20oz%20bottle%20of%20beer%20(you%20won't%20use%20it%20all...the%20remaining%20is%20for%20your%20own%20personal%20consumption)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20lb%20bacon%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20according%20the%20the%20instructions%20on%20the%20box%20of%20cake%20mix.%20Line%2024%20cupcake%20cups.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFry%201/2%20of%20the%20bacon%20and%20crumble.%20(tip:%20with%20your%20kitchen%20shears,%20cut%20the%20raw%20bacon%20into%20squares%20and%20fry%20them%20up....then%20you%20don't%20have%20to%20%22crumble%22%20them)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFollow%20the%20instructions%20on%20the%20cake%20mix%20box%20except....instead%20of%20adding%20the%20suggestion%20water,%20replace%20it%20ounce%20for%20ounce%20with%20beer.%20If%20your%20not%20familiar%20on%20how%20to%20poor%20beer%20without%20creating%20a%20giant%20%22head%22%20of%20froth%20(which%20could%20make%20it%20difficult%20to%20measure)....just%20tilt%20the%20bottle%20or%20can%20and%20the%20measuring%20cup%20towards%20each%20other...almost%20level,%20and%20gently%20pour%20so%20that%20the%20beer%20is%20running%20into%20the%20measuring%20cup,%20along%20the%20'wall'.%20I%20hope%20that%20makes%20sense.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20the%20beer%20is%20poured%20into%20the%20batter,%20you'll%20have%20some%20frothy%20fun.%20Mix%20as%20instructed%20on%20the%20box.%20Fold%20in%20the%20crumbled%20bacon.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDivide%20the%20batter%20amongst%20the%20lined%20cupcake%20cups.%20Bake%20according%20the%20box%20instructions.%20Allow%20to%20cool%20completely%20before%20icing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMeanwhile....you%20need%20to%20%22candy%22%20the%20remaining%20bacon.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20your%20oven%20to%20375'.%20Line%20a%20rimmed%20cookie%20sheet%20with%20foil%20(for%20easy%20clean%20up)%20and%20place%20a%20rack%20on%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGet%20out%20some%20brown%20sugar...maybe%201/4%20-%201/2%20cup?%20Place%20the%20bacon%20on%20the%20rack%20and%20sprinkle%20generously%20with%20brown%20sugar.%20Place%20in%20the%20oven%20and%20bake%20for%20a%20maybe%2010%20mins?%20The%20time%20will%20vary%20depending%20on%20the%20thickness%20of%20your%20bacon.%20Basically,%20when%20they're%20halfway%20done%20and%20ready%20to%20turn%20over,%20you're%20going%20to%20sprinkle%20the%20other%20side%20with%20more%20brown%20sugar.%20Bake%20until%20done.%20Crumble%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20this%20is%20where%20things%20get%20a%20little%20%22fuzzy%22.%20I%20think%20it%20was%20Super%20Bowl%20Sunday%20when%20I%20made%20these.%20And%20I%20made%20the%20icing...ummm....after%20the%20game%20and%20definitely%20under%20the%20influence.%20Let's%20just%20say...I%20forgot%20to%20measure%20stuff.%20I%20know%20I%20started%20off%20with%20a%20basic%20icing%20recipe:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20teaspoon%20vanilla....but%20wait.%20I%20didn't%20add%20vanilla.%20I%20poured%20in%20maybe%201%20tsp?%20of%20maple%20flavoring.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBeat%20the%20butter%20for%202%20minutes%20on%20medium-high%20speed.%20Reduce%20the%20speed%20to%20medium%20and%20add%20the%20powder%20sugar%20and%20cocoa%20powder%201/2%20cup%20at%20a%20time.%20Beat%20until%20fluffy.%20Add%20the%20vanilla%20maple%20flavoring%20(not%20maple%20syrup....maple%20flavoring%20is%20concentrated).%20Taste%20it%20and%20adjust%20the%20cocoa%20powder%20and%20maple%20flavoring%20until%20you%20love%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIce%20the%20cupcakes%20and%20top%20with%20candied%20bacon%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20really%20did%20have%20fun%20making%20these.%20If%20you're%20not%20into%20bacon...don't%20bother.%20If%20the%20idea%20of%20sweets%20and%20meat%20mixed%20together%20doesn't%20appeal%20to%20you....don't%20bother.%20Me?%20I%20love%20bacon.%20I%20love%20maple%20and%20bacon.%20The%20cupcakes%20weren't%20overly%20sweet.....and%20the%20icing%20was%20to%20die%20for!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20is%20one%20thing%20I'd%20do%20differently.%20I'd%20candy%20ALL%20of%20the%20bacon....even%20the%20bacon%20that%20gets%20folded%20into%20the%20batter.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
