- In saucepan put together sugar, flour, salt, butter and boiling water. Cook on low heat, stirring till thick. Beat well large eggs and juice and rind of lemons. Add in egg mix slowly into cooked filling, stirring so large eggs won't lump. Mix well. Cool and spread on cake layers. Top and sides of 4 layers.
