  • 1 pkg. macaroni shells (1 pound box sm. size shells)
  • 8 tbsp. butter
  • 8 tbsp. flour
  • 6 c. lowfat milk
  • 4 c. American cheese, grated
  • 1 1/2 c. chopped onions
  • 2 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

  1. Prepare macaroni as directed on package. Drain. In a large saucepan, over low heat, heat butter. Add in flour. Cook, stirring constantly 2 or possibly 3 min. Don't brown. Stir in lowfat milk, cheese, onions, mustard, salt and pepper. Cook till cheese are melted. Mix macaroni shells with sauce mix. Pour into a 5 or possibly 6-qt casserole dish. Bake 45 to 50 min at 350 degrees. Serves 12 to 16 people. You may cut this into half of the recipe. Brown slightly.
