Las Vegas in Short Review
You’ve heard the saying a million times “What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas”. And that’s true for the most part, but I thought I’d share just a few food tidbits with you…
We stayed at ARIA that is one of the new hotels in the $9 billion dollar City Center Complex. All I can say is WOW, spectacular place to stay and play. There were several restaurants that we tried, but the lighting is VERY dark in those places at night, you almost need night vision goggles, of which I don’t have and neither does my camera! So sadly, I have very few food pictures. Happily, one of the restaurants that my friend Dawn and I ate lunch at was right out in the open and thankfully bright enough to take pictures!
We went to Julian Serrano-Tapas. Tapas are one of my new loves. If you haven’t had a tapas meal before, you really should try it. They are small portions of differing foods and you don’t feel over stuffed in the end. We ordered 4 tapas, drinks and dessert that we shared over 2 hours and walked away satisfied, but not ready for a snooze (if you know what I mean)…
First off–drinks, this one was a White Sangria, made with white wine and fresh apples, pears and pineapple.
Then we had this 2 ounce prime tenderloin served with cheese, honey and walnuts-about 2 bites per person-perfect
Then we had these little shrimp in a soy marinade that were out of this world!
One of my favorite parts about ordering tapas is all of the cute little bowls/dishes that they use for serving!
This was something not to waste your time with when you are in Vegas. My family is die hard Pawn Stars fans-(in case you hadn’t heard, that is a show on TLC), so of course we needed to see the place on Las Vegas Blvd. After a $12.00 cab fare, we were dropped off to find a smaller than average size delapidated building, stuffed full of people. It IS much smaller than how it appears on the show and all the show regulars were “out to lunch” when we were there. We did buy a t-shirt for the Youngest and stopped to take this picture, but as much as we love the show, don’t waste your time on sight-seeing there.
On the other hand, if you find yourself with nothing to do one night, make sure to see Terry Fator at Mirage!! You may remember him as the first winner of America’s Got Talent and he puts on a hilarious talented show complete with a band and some of his favorite “puppets”
Then there’s this….the real reason everyone goes to Vegas!! This, however, was not mine! Maybe next time…
