Jolly Chocolate Cookies

Add chocolate chips for a really chocolatey cookie

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 5 tbsp baking cocoa
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

  1. Cream together the shortening and the sugar
  2. Add the eggs and vanilla
  3. Blend in the cocoa
  4. Stir well
  5. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and the salt
  6. Add the flour mixture and the milk alternately to the cocoa mixture until blended
  7. Add the nuts
  8. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet
  9. Bake at 350 F for 8 to 10 minutes
