Great for entertaining a crowd or the family.
Make the day before if possible to allow flavours to develop.

- Lightly fry onions in the butter.
- Add the diced tomato.
- Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Add a pinch of sugar to cut the acidity if liked. (optional)
- Add diced stewing steak - no need to brown it.
- Add the cloves.
- Cover and simmer for about and hour or until tender, checking that the liquids don't dry out. A small quantity of water may be added if necessary.
- In the interim cook 1 packet of spaghetti (not macaroni or other pasta) until soft but not soggy.
- In an oven proof dish layer cheese, meat and tomato mix, spaghetti, ending with cheese.
- Bake until cheese melts in 360F / 180C oven
- Serve with a crisp fresh mixed salad and garlic bread
