ITALIAN SPAGHETTI

Great for entertaining a crowd or the family.
Make the day before if possible to allow flavours to develop.

Ингредиенты

  • 1or 2 large onions, cleaned and diced.
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • Scald and peel 6 large very ripe tomatoes, dice.
  • Add Salt and pepper to taste.
  • 10 whole cloves
  • (pinch of sugar to cut acidity - optional)
  • Add 600g diced stewing steak.
  • 500g good cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 packet of spaghetti - not macaroni or other pasta

  1. Lightly fry onions in the butter.
  2. Add the diced tomato.
  3. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  4. Add a pinch of sugar to cut the acidity if liked. (optional)
  5. Add diced stewing steak - no need to brown it.
  6. Add the cloves.
  7. Cover and simmer for about and hour or until tender, checking that the liquids don't dry out. A small quantity of water may be added if necessary.
  8. In the interim cook 1 packet of spaghetti (not macaroni or other pasta) until soft but not soggy.
  9. In an oven proof dish layer cheese, meat and tomato mix, spaghetti, ending with cheese.
  10. Bake until cheese melts in 360F / 180C oven
  11. Serve with a crisp fresh mixed salad and garlic bread
