  • 1 lb white bread dough loaf frzn
  • 1 lb lean grnd beef round
  • 1/2 c. mushrooms minced
  • 1/2 c. onion finely minced
  • 1/4 c. green bell pepper minced
  • 1/2 c. evaporated skim lowfat milk
  • 3 Tbsp. dry bread crumbs fine
  • 1 1/2 tsp dry oregano
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1 tsp fennel seed crushed
  • 3 x cloves garlic chopped
  • 3/4 c. tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt vegetable cooking spray

  1. Thaw bread dough.
  2. Combine grnd round and next 9 ingredients in a large skillet; stir well. Cold over medium heat 10 min of till meat is browned, stirring tocrumble meat. Add in 3/4 c. tomato sauce, sugar, and salt; cook 6 min, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; let mix cold slightly.
  3. Divide dough into 8 equal portions. Working with 1 portion a t a time
  4. (cover remaining portions to keep dough from drying out), roll each portionto 1/8-inch thickness. Place on a large baking sheet coated with cooking spray, and pat each portion into a 6-inch circle with floured fingertips.
  5. Spoon 1/3 c. meat mix onto half of each circle; moisten edges of doughwith water. Fold dough over filling; press edges together with a fork to seal. Lightly coat with cooking spray.
  6. Bake at 375xF for 20 min or possibly till golden brown. Remove from oven, and lightly coat again with cooking spray. Serve hot.
